Ken was actually trying to pass a lot of information secretly. For example, during the day on day 1 31:50 Ken gossiped that Sullivan and Dom were the demon - he was trying to tip Sullivan off that Dom was the demon and he was on the evil team. Also, when Ken nominates Dom near the end of the game 1:26:43 as part of his prosecution he mentions that there's an Amnesiac who pinged Dom as evil, trying to tip Dom off that there was an Amnesiac with a powerful ability in play.

@1:27:00 Ken is a genius. He not only understands that hes dead and a known evil (As Sullys plan worked), he then put up Dom to make Dom seem against Ken and then goes role calling to get public confessions of roles, allowing Dom to know more roles. He is REALLY good at this game.

Hopefully this comment rises to somewhere near the top, as I anticipate a lot of people wondering why I said what I said. The Ogre's rules have changed in the several months since this video was recorded and it no longer changes alignment along with it's buddy. Eagle-eyed viewers might notice that it no longer has a reminder token for this exact reason. This is because there are some edge-cases where it can cause the evil team to outnumber the good team, which is a tiny bit broken.

I assume he was probably really struggling with his bowels beyond the comedic snippets they put into the cut and people chalked it up to him being really distracted by it. Then there were just enough "attention grabbers" such as the DA/Ogre situation and the Amnesiac and the drunk information to make sure he could stay out of the spotlight.

Laurie played the Mayor really well here. Remembering the episode where he screamed he carried his team to victory (Ding Dom Merrily on High), he actually did just that here. The evils did a good job making Mara look suspicious. Also a serious throw by Sully right out of the gate again, LOL.

Yeah, it was a mistake to take out Ken though. Dom should have tried for the Mayor, it might still have bounced for Ken but would have been worth the chance. Everyone played well and Laurie did deserve the Mayor win, he usually gets thrown in front of the buss.

@@loke6664 I was actually thinking it through and it probably would have been better to kill the amnesiac. He could have reasonably guessed that Ken would be protecting him that day, so if Mara was dead, then as long as anyone was executed, evil wins. If I'm not mistaken, a player doesn't have to die to stop a mayor win, just be executed. So even if they found out somehow that Dom is the demon, voting him out wouldn't have killed him, and the day would end with 3 players and 1 execution, meaning evil wins automatically. All they had to do was push that Laurie probably isn't the mayor, and I think they could have done that pretty easily. There was enough doubt there to scare people into voting someone. But also.... WHY DID KEN VOTE WHEN HE DID??? If it had tied, Dom still had the opportunity to bluff some reason why he would rather nominate Mara than no one, and then they could try to convince the ghosts to go through with it. With Dom, Sully, Ellen, and Ken voting, Mara would have been killed if Dom and Laurie had tied at 3 votes each. In reality the only ghost that needs convincing there would be Ellen. I think Ken just panicked, which is fine, it's a pretty stressful game, but I think that was the final nail in the evil team's coffin lol. Everyone played very well, but a few evil team mistakes was all it took to stop the momentum they had going into the end.

There's not really any world where the Mara vote makes sense. If she's the demon, then Laurie is really the mayor and the vote is already tied, guaranteeing victory if no one votes. If she's innocent, then executing her lets the demon win. Maybe be could have blagged it, but I think muddling the waters by throwing his vote in was a better chance of them voting Mara, thinking it means Dom is innocent and killing him would ensure evil win, and their best option being to tie 4 votes or vote Mara. Sadly the vote order makes a last minute "evil adds an extra vote to push the tie over" impossible, but it's reasonable to not expect Ken to be able to calculate the exact moving parts in the moment

If anything it was Dom's mistake of killing Ken instead of the mayor that lost them the game. If you're thinking of Ken's last second vote for Dom, he even addressed it in the ending. That would have tied the vote and it would have been impossible to convince the village not to go for a mayor victory in that case.

Even with all the remaining ghost votes on Mara, she or Laurie would have to vote for her for her to be executed - and Laurie would only ever want to tie it, while Mara would never vote for herself of course. I can also see the logic, though it's flawed (in a fast-paced situation). Ken made a lot of great plays throughout, and one tactical error at the end that couldn't affect the outcome anyway, so it seems way too much to say he caused the defeat.

Ken is a really good player. So good that I think a lot of people don't pick up on what he's doing. I think everyone watching caught on that Ken and Dom were sharing bluffs and which bluff Ken was choosing while Sullivan was present. But I think it gets missed that Ken gossiped information meant to tip Sullivan off that he was evil and Dom was the demon: 31:50 And he tried to tip Dom off there was an Amnesiac in play with a powerful ability: 1:26:43 There was also his attempt to make Mara look suspicious by making her DA protected.

Dom claims Sullivan is at fault. But he had this one in his hands. All he had to pick was Empath on day one. He knew that was the only one that could confirm Sully. Overall a good demonstration how strong an Empath can be in particular when their neighbours change.

Ken is really more to blame than Dom, and I think it was just a matter of playing chaotically as opposed to thinking things through (the Ken classic, can't be mad at it). He threw by: 1. Hiding it from Sully, which made Sully confident he was a good boy-meaning when Sullivan successfully figured out Dan was an empath it didn't scare him one bit that Dan would be able to check him in the night. He was confident his role didn't change, so he had no reason to warn Ken and Dom. 2. Saving Sully's life on the first night was intended to be a self-serving move, I get it, but Sully had to die. With Dom going for the oracle, hiding Sully's alignment change was the next biggest priority. No one cares if sus is thrown on Tilly, she's the Baron. She can die to save the reputation of both Sully and Ken. One person losing trust is better than two. This is another situation where Sully incorrectly believing the Empath wouldn't ping him since he was such a good boy unraveled the evil team's game. 3. Exerting more control over Sully. Being "on team Ken" was not utilized at all during the game, when it's a clear reason for Sully to play Butler. Tell Sully to vote with you. If Sully is voting before you and you know you're going to vote yes on someone, order him to vote for them as well so you're on the same page! 4. Throwing up his hand at the end to put Dom on the block was bad math. It might be tempting to blame Tilly as well for committing to the mayor bit and using her ghost vote on Laurie, but how could she have known the rest of the evil team wouldn't back her up? So Ken is more to blame for not realizing that saving Dom without tying the vote was literally impossible since Mara would never vote for herself*. *Possibly what Dom could've done was pretend he wasn't going to vote for Mara, forcing her to vote for herself to tie it and give a mayor win -then throw his hand up right after she voted to secure victory. I truly believe that's the only chance he had after Ken's play. I don't like criticizing plays without offering an alternative, so this is the alternative I'm suggesting that would've made Ken's maneuver work.

In the end, it's BotC. No one misplays by choosing not to trust another player, even if they're telling the truth, because we have an omniscient view into the game and they do not. I don't know why it would be more likely to assume Sully was lying about being an ogre to suss out evil players as opposed to genuinely being an ogre, particularly because it's Sully and he's not a fan of using 4D chess mindfuck plays. If Dom or not-Eve would have said it, I would understand Ken's hesitation much more. But Sully? He doesn't like playing that way, it stresses him out. You know he's being honest if he's claiming a lying-heavy role like that one. It's like if he claimed savant while being evil, it's just unlikely since it gives him a lot to keep track of. (For example, figuring out what to say when two other outsiders crop up thanks to Tilly's Baron. He would have to *know* he could get away with it, and presumably be telling multiple people he's the ogre to fish for the first minion/demon he gets? Sully would be much too nervous to try it).

All the players of the evil team beefed it this time in some way. After Dom left the Empath alive by choosing Gossip and getting Blair killed, the evil team should have pushed hard on Dan. It's very suspicious that Blair, a spent Clockmaker, would die when an Empath was outed - and it just so happens that death conveniently makes Ken the empath's neighbor, and the empath can now confirm two evil players? The evil team should not have let that stand, and no one seriously pushed the idea that Dan was lying.

​@@baydiac - I agree that Ken screwed the pooch with regards to Sully. At least tell him not to tell anyone else he's an Ogre who picked Ken, because that makes outing one of you outing both of you. Also Dom blew it not picking Empath to take the possibility of picking up a Sully team switch off the table after Sully did reveal that in the town square. But that's a more difficult play to think through than just telling Sully to be at least a little coy, which wouldn't be weird even if you're on the good team. So I still blame Ken more, even though it made for some lovely chaos... Also self-nominating day 1 with two decent kills on the block was very sus. However, I believe Dom had to vote first. So there's no way your alternative play works.

Absolutely incredible, this was one of the funniest episodes so far! Ellen played a great first game, though I wish she and Mara had talked cause I think if they'd trusted each other and shared info they could've solved it! It was incredible seeing Mara so close to the answers right at the end, and the Mayor win is absolutely huge for Laurie. I think he earned that one.

I was shocked she failed to mention it at all when it came defence time. She just said "I know the statistics and your claim is bad". when she should have been calling him out on the fact he at no point ever acted on any of his gambler claims. By the end it should have been obvious he was the only one that wasn't making any sense, and obviously didn't want a mayor win because it would mean his own loss.

Dom fumbled so hard on the last day lmao. He killed his DA protecting him. Allowed a Mayor who outted themself as Mayor to win… which killing woulda resulted in a guaranteed victory. He proceeded to have Mara on his side, got the Laurie on the block, but then forgot that he claimed that he gambled Mara as Amnesiac… therefore ousting himself as evil to Mara. Dom had it and threw it all away.

This confused me so bad, why would he kill Ken? He and Ken had majority if he made a good kill and Mara was pretty clearly amnesiac by that point. Maybe he was scared of ghost votes, but of course Ken was gonna protect him. Such a weird play.

Problem here is that A) Dom was desperate to make Laurie look like the Demon, as more players trusted Mara than Laurie. and B) If Dom had chosen to kill the Mayor, then Ben would have almost certainly bounced the kill to Mara, as the Mayor would have been the only path to victory for good with a DA'd demon on the final night. He could have killed Mara, which would have left the (basically) confirmed DA, the Demon, and the Mayor. At that point the town would likely assume that the Demon was DA protected and pushed even harder for the Mayor, as it would have been the only path with a possibility of victory. Essentially banking on the idea that the chance of the Mayor being in play was greater than the chance of the Demon not being protected. If anything, I would argue that Ken was the one who messed up by voting for Dom. If it tied then Dom would still have nominated Mara, the village would go for another tie, and Ken, being the last person to vote could throw his hand up last minute to get Mara killed and win.

So everyone could simply not vote for Mara, they wouldn't need to tie it, and then Ken couldn't have thrown up his hand last minute because he'd have been the only vote.

I've read through most of the comments, but first impression when watching this episode was that it was certainly a quite blatant misplay by Dom killing Ken his DA on that last night, and on reflection I still strongly believe this is the case. The only explanation I can offer is that had he still gone on to victory it would have been more grandiose. From a probability perspective he certainly needed to kill Mara either by targeting Laurie and it inevitably bouncing to Mara or by just targeting Mara. Having 2 evil players alive on the last day allows Ken to vote more than once and provides the evil team with more options. Dom definitely messed up forgetting he'd told Mara he gambled on Amnesiac as well; I think the episode was edited quite a bit around that point in time because you see a few seconds when Mara remembers that Dom should know Mara is good, and then nothing more is said. Prior to that point Mara never considered voting for Dom, after that point Mara immediately knows Dom is evil, and I think most of the rest of the cast realise this as well. Still greatly enjoyed the episode and hindsight is 20/20 but it certainly appears that Dom played suboptimally in this one.

Another fantastic game with everyone playing 4D Chess with one another. Kudos to the Empath and Amnesiac vs. The MVP DA of all DAs! Also, can they stop wanting to die, specially in the first few rounds. I know they are experts at this game, but it only really helps the evil team.

**Spoiler for thoughts on ending** I see a fair amount of people saying Dom was foolish to kill Ken, and while we don't really know what Dom was thinking (other than needing to poo), it's worth keeping in mind: 1) Ken was pretty much outed evil, so you'd have to convince people he was the demon, which seems tough when the idea of him being a DA was already presented. 2) People were really onboard with the Clockmaker getting a 1, so it could be easier to convince everyone that the demon sat next to Ken (outed evil) or Tilly (pinged by the Empath) 3) He had to play around the Mayor, who he very likely figured out Laurie was. There is 0% chance the Storyteller was going to kill the Mayor if the demon was DA protected, meaning it could ping to Ken or Mara, in which case, see above. And, 4) BOTC is about making split-second decisions based on a hope and a prayer and how you think you're friends will react - not solving logic puzzles while you write a comment. All a line of thinking needs to do is make sense for a moment and you can give it a shot.

MAJOR props to Laurie and Mara for the first ever mayor win and amnesiac solving! That was amazing to watch! I have two major questions about the ending, though: why on EARTH would Dom kill his devil's advocate, and why did Ken vote for his own demon? I guess it wouldn't matter either way since they got the mayor win, but they both seem like things that really hurt their chances.
