I had an objective to kill another player. The others cotton on and coordinate to blow me out the airlock and save the crewmember. They play amazingly, kill the queen in a huge climatic battle and all go to sleep... except the player they saved from me. Turns out his objective was kill everyone. They're all helpless and screaming as he sabotages the engines and hops in an escape pod leaving them all to explode. It was a perfect game.
@RandomPerson-nd2ey2 жыл бұрын
Haha, that's awesome... Edit: Ugh, now I have to buy it. Also, my wife and kids love cats so I have to buy the $40 Cat Add On... And I'm a completionist so I need to buy the expansion. Oh, the other terrain pack looks cool too! Huh, I didn't know it was possible for a wallet to cry...

I’m late to the party, but if it helps, you’re not allowed to sabotage the ship when people are asleep. So technically, his victory was false.
@Xandian2 жыл бұрын
I’m still not 100% sure on this ruling, but the people I’ve played with online and in person have said that you can still MANUALLY break the engines using a repair card. You just can’t activate self destruct. It doesn’t state anywhere in the rules you can’t mess with the engines once someone is in hibernation, but it EXPLICITLY states you cannot activate self destruct once someone is asleep.

After 2 years my best memory of a boardgame session is this game where i gained everyone's trust with my sacrifices through out the game to betray them at the last minute when they all went in to deep sleep with blowing up the ship and escaping in a pod. The best part? I didn't even need to kill them all i only needed to kill one player but revealing that they all lost at the victory check and seeing their faces was priceless. If anyone is doubting about this game, don't it's perfect if you get use to the mechanics and find a way to betray everyone 😁

"Captain Sock Puppet Sullivan" This expedition was doomed before it even left the planet. I love the variety in these Masterpieces videos. From the last video having a simple little game about moving stones without any theme to one of the most heavily thematic games out there with a myriad of components (and I would imagine, heaviest box.) I would absolutely love it if you're planning to feature this on Board Game Club. (Halloween month fits games with a creepy theme!) A game with a price tag 2-3 times that of similar games is a bit difficult to justify picking up and I imagine you also need a separate building to store the box, akin to Gloomhaven, but it would be a joy to see you all play it!

I like explaining noise tokens as the creaks you're hearing from the vents moreso than the noise you're making. It makes more sense mechanism and themeatic-wise. I genuinely don't remember how it explains it in the rulebook, but it avoids people saying, "How'd I make noise in corridor 3 while moving in corridor 2." It wasn't you. You don't know what it was ........See? It's better :p

We love this game and have so many great stories from past games. Superb overview! One thing about the noise tokens is it is noise you are hearing, not noise you are making. The noise you hear makes more thematic sense, too and explains why you don't place a token with careful movement. You hear the same things down the same corridor that your mate does.
@mechasduo0043 жыл бұрын
With careful movement you still place a noise token, you just get to chose what corridor it goes in. Which is great late game when there are noise tokens everywhere and you cant carefully move when the room has all its corridors already full.

Easily one of my favorite games I own. So thematic and fun, even when I play solo (I generally play as two characters if I do go solo). I was two turns from the ship going into Hyperspace, I was at the Evacuation Room A ready to get off the ship, when I realized I forgot to unlock the Pod. Then I had to roll for noise, and suddenly The Queen appeared in the room. Sneak attack murdered me. Such a brilliant ending.

Why do comedians make such amazing villains?
@alaric_ Жыл бұрын
@@kev_whatev They avoid the stereotypical 'bad guy'-look and can portray more normal (in the outside) villain. Subconciously the viewer also doesn't think them as a threat as they have funny and positive feel for them. One example might be the human villain in 'Predators', it really was a suprise in the end and the actor was excellent in portraying an evil villain. But this does require the writer and director to actively suppress their funny moments to not take away the illusion.

There needs to be categories for "Masterpieces". Casual, Normal, and Total Nerd. This one ranks in the Total Nerd category. That's not a bad thing because people enjoy things like this! However, I will guarantee that if you break this out at a party the majority of people will leave either while you are setting everything up, or before you have gotten only 5 minutes into trying to explain the rules. Hardly a "Masterpiece". Us total nerds will love it tho...
@wedgemccloud3 жыл бұрын
I entirely don't disagree, but I will say that a lot of media that would be considered "masterpieces" have that sort of effect, many of which are very powerful but challenging forms of art. They're not for everyone and I would argue it makes it even more fitting as a masterpiece: To be a refined example of its craft, it cannot compromise itself to try to please; it can only be the best that it can be. At least, I think that's what a Masterpiece is and from what I've seen (especially the Cosmic Encounter review) that seems to be Adam's ethos about it.

Hey, nice review. Just for rule clarification players don't do any noises. They walk to a room and listen where are noises coming from. With an x there are no noises. Thats the reason why you dont roll if another player is already in the room. Or why it is like a danger roll while you are slimed. The pheromones are leading the intruders in your direction.

Dune is a great game. Been playing it for 35(!) years and it's still my favourite board game. The way we play, it's at least 50% mind games. Is that one unit Harkonnen just shipped into the Artreides stronghold armed with a lazgun and shield, or is it just there to weaken their forces? Wait, why are we making the Emperor rich by bidding up these Treachery cards? What's that Fremen doing near the Shield Wall? Why hasn't the Guild landed anything yet? I don't like the look of all these Bene Gesserit "advisors" in Tuek's Sietch. And can I really trust this leader in this battle, or should I just bluff with a cheap hero to cause heavy losses?
