Moved to Liverpool age 20 in 1984, the thatcher era, when the city was proper run down. As a bedsit musician, I lived in toxteth, shiel road, wavertree, speke, garston and lark lane aigburth! Had the time of me life met dsome lifelong friends, moved away in 1992. Everywhere has its bad, but the true essence and the soul of the city and the people are as good as the best you will find in any city anywhere

Great video mate. I lived on Utting Avenue East just across from Broadway from birth for just over 30 years. This was through the whole Croxteth Crew / Strand Gang days, and the place was an absolute misery back in the mid 1990s and through earlyish 2000s. Nice to see the kids about these days seemed to have a bit of respect and upon visiting, it seems to have improved to what it once was for sure.

I'm really enjoying the different areas of Liverpool you are coving. As most places you have visited have gone down hill so much as I remember them in the 50's, 60's and 70's. My Uncle Billy lived in Bootle all his life, and he would turn in his grave if he saw what his beloved Bootle looks like today.
@rog-bx2cn3 ай бұрын
That park used to be a lovely park back in the 70's , it's unrecognisable now. It was always a bit posh that muirhead avenue east end & ruffer Broadway end. Where are kids getting them fireworks from though & the money to buy them. At the same time it's mischief & nowhere to go, no youth clubs anymore ,so it's a bit of excitement. Good video again Billy

Can't be mad at kids doing their thing in the park. It's off the street. It's nice to see they're all out doing something instead of in their rooms just scrolling random BS. Good for them, they'll grow up having enjoyed that kind of lifestyle as a kid. I did. Respect Bill.

I've been watching for a while now. When you mention there's nothing to do for these kids, yer right. Just 10 years ago, we had a youth club christ church in Bootle, we went every Friday after 5 a side in Kirkdale. Kept us off the streets mostly. The decline is huge...
@bluescousenilsatis3 ай бұрын
Wow.. Took me back to my childhood here Bill. I remember that bouncy place bring a Tesco, then the market next door. I remember when they built another supermarket called Leo's near the top end of the highstreet. A Timpson shoe shop and a little record shop near it. The bingo when it was a Mecca I think and it was always busy. There was a Banners TV shop in that parade and a chicken rotissery shop that smelt boss but we couldn't afford roast chicken, so the smell was enough😂 The Broadway club up the side of the railway bridge behind the Woolworths. The little shop The Hut near the big bridge. That Wetherspoons was a Salvation Army hall too. The bus terminus opposite. Used to sit off on that wall at night. Nogsy park hasn't really changed in layout but the old church has gone from the corner. I lived next to St Christopher's for years. There was library near the roundabout and a youth club nobody used but complained about having nothing to do 😂😂 So much has changed but the foundations remain if you know what I mean. It was a bustling area back then and had everything you needed

The inflatable place looked good but a bit pricey no one has got that sort of money this day in age I think if they rang prices down they get alot moore 😉through the door yes they wouldn't make as much but surely numbers would go up so works both ways, plus the council should be helping so you keep the youth of the streets...
