I’m a lifelong resident of North Eastern Oklahoma, it would be a dream come true for me if there were a Heathen Community and a Hof near me. 🐺

My maiden name is Hoff, descendant from Hov, Norway. One of my ancestors was a carpenter who contributed the baptismal font and other elements to the Hov Kirke. I believe they are still there and I hope to visit one day

I was wondering what brought the archaeologists to believe that the iron plow was a sacrifice. That's very neat.

From what I've been told many Vikings didn't worship in buildings. They would prayer in nature.

Great video again! Its quite sad that all of them have been demolished or turned into churches tho! Would be amazing to see one that is original, but i guess well have to suffice with the modernized ones !

The more archaeological data we have on these buildings, the better we can build new hofs! There are probably a few more around but it's likely that the majority has modern building mass on top, so finds like these are unique.

What is the difference between a Huff and a Stave church? Just visited the Hopperstad Stave Church in Vikøyri and the buildings look quite similar. Are the stave churches just built over/repurposed Huff to move towards Christian based faith?
