I've been to the bog at Lejre, since i live quite close, the tree canopy covers it all with darkness, and there is a steep "crater" into the bog decorated with horse bones and feathers. One of the heaviest atmospheres i have ever experienced.

The German "Hof" sounds exactly the same . It is most often used for a "yard with walls". It gets deeply conductive to innerstanding if You read the translated Meaning: _1 delimited space, commercial and traffic area on a property, usually enclosed by buildings or located behind, in front of or between buildings_ _2 Farm_ _3 Economic or settlement unit for living and working_ _4 the entire suite of nobility, lordship; the place of the manor house_ _5 light-reflecting area of the sky around a celestial body (sun, moon)_ All of that lends a lot to the open air You out forth. And in the further usage as in 5, there is a lot. Even though I can not name it easily.

Mike the Viking thank you for this UTube show.Being part Norse myself, I always wondered what a real Viking was like. We all know about the raiders, but what about the merchant side of things? I have to say I'm not disappointed! Your merchant skills seem to be excellent. So my curiosity is satisfied. Once again Thanks.

You think it's possible that those sacrifices left in nature, was a way to repay what they get from it? Like butterfly effect, bugs and birds and other animals would eat the meat and give a kick-start to the ecosystem.

Hej igen! Once again thinking about this video and the research you're doing for upcoming videos, and I just wanted to share my thoughts from this morning - that for the original Vedic 'Hinduism' (that wandered into India from the west) it was also very important NOT to worship in temples etc, but instead outdoors. That must've been the Indo-European heritage, and maybe there's even more to what you're saying about temples and worship among the Norse. Just thinking out loud here, and don't know what value this has for you, but I thought I'd share it with you. (Despite the Scandinavian background we have in common I'm writing in English for the sake of your channel.)

@bjornekdahl721
@bjornekdahl721 3 жыл бұрын
@@norsemagicandbeliefs8134 The name Ekdahl is quite common in Sweden, not SUPER common, but not rare. As for my part of that surname I know that it was some of my relatives who added that name on as a 'soldatnamn' during the 1700's - since so many in the same battalion had the name Andersson they needed to distinguish them, so my relatives added a name based on the 'oak valley' where they lived and first became Andersson Ekdahl, and then just Ekdahl with time. When it comes to Miranda Ekdahl - if she's aged around 25-26 I know who she is. She lives in Lund, like 20 km from Malmö.

Thanks for another interesting video. I shudder at the thought of Irminsul! Btw, I've heard of several (British) excavations in groves showing thorn hedges enclosing a hörgr. I guess that must've been seen as permanent 'temples'.

I have ONE QUESTION and please You to answer me. I I worship... no-not a "war-ship😆"Wothanaz /Odin since my childhood.... Since about I was 15or16... I do robbery only because I want to celebrate Odin. In my 18.th year I robbed a bank with my cousin.... The newspaper wrote #BankRobbery* like in Hollywood Kino.... But that's not the case of my question...like I said, I We robbed the bank on Wednesday... To me for honor Wothanaz.... There was really dislike action moments... We got 178000 deutsche mark....in the woods we hide it... But there were some moments... Like the Schicksal.. Pardon me... I forgot the translation... And after a very actionable hourS we got caught after crash ours.... The police, who got us in the wood in a place we could not move and my brother did the reverse turn and crashed the cops car.... One of them wanted to get out but flew like a bird 5meters by the door of his car. The other was agile like a ninja and sprung out and with a automatic gun he got us. I but that is not my question :all my bad things happen on Wednesday.... Everything and everytime.... ONLY on Wednesdays. The okay.... I was truthful to Odin and prayed and did Runes.... But three weeks ago I threw my Statue/my Altar of the Odin on the ground and smashed it until his head and all parts did break. I Than I Swore my soul to TYR... The only honest God. I I marked my wands in every corner with the TIWAS RUNE and Mannas.... And somewhere Ansuz. Today... Some weeks ago... No, I I didn't regret my doing, I but yesterday I carved a runestone with Wothanaz in Runes.... First I carved it in Iron, I than.... To make it more visible with two eddings. Than.... Before that I did a steak and there was blood... I drink the half and the other I wished on the stone. Than I got on my knee and prayed upon the stone, which I did high before my house entrance:Odin both ordfruma, Aelcre spraeceWisdomes Wrathurond Witena frofurOnd EORLA GEHWAM Wants OND TOHIHT. Than I said≈Odin ER ALLTHINGAUTR OK ASGARDS JOFFUR OK Vallhallar Visi Odin Odviti. Then a stormy wind comes up.... My question is... I think not, he is bad about me, I but every day on him ruined my life. So why were this days difficult.... As a test or as a punishment?
