Herod the Great is famous for expanding the second temple, but he had also built pagan temples for Augustus.
According to the ancient historian, Josephus Flavius, Herod built three temples for the Romans. One in Caesarea Maritima, one in Samaria, but the third one could not be identified for a long time.
Where is the missing temple, and did archaeologists finally find it at the site of Horvat Omrit? Why did Herod build it in the first place? And how does this all point to and explain Herod's desire to kill Jesus?

@@hondacbrification Caesarea Philippi was named by Herod Philip, whose father, Herod 'the great', had built a temple there. Philip inherited governance of this area and enlarged the village, attaching his name to that of Caesar. The name Philip also distinguished it from another town called Caesarea located on the Mediterranean Sea. Caesarea Philippi was on land given to the tribe of Naphtali.

I just turned 50 and I am in my 6th year of being diagnosed with ALS. I am currently on a ventilator, but only at night. I am in a facility for three years. Herod was NOT Jewish as stated in this video. Herod was born in Edom, but he really wanted to be Jewish so that the Jewish people would accept him as their king. Herod was the son of the Idumean Governor Antipater who became the governor as a reward for rescuing Julius Caesar in Alexandria, Egypt. Herod, Antipater's son was made king of Judea by the Roman Senate in 40 B.C. as Herod had developed many contacts in Rome. The truth is Herod was a power-hungry villain who murdered any Jew (including any Jew left from the Hasmonean Dynasty) that he felt could one day challenge his power base. On his father’s side he was an Idumean-"Jew" (an oxymoron), from a family of Idumean so-called converts; on his mother’s side, he was Nabatean, totally not Jewish-his mother was a Nabatean Princess-an Arabic tribe in southern Jordan. According to Jewish law, Herod was NOT at all a Jew.

Paul says of himself long after his conversion by faith in Jesus Christ, Whom Paul knew to be the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and yet one of their offspring. He says: "Even though I might have trust in flesh; if any other thinks to trust in flesh, I more; Php 3:5 in circumcision, the eighth day, of the race of Israel, the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; according to Law, a Pharisee;" Only Jews could be Pharisees. Paul was both Jew and Hebrew by birth. In Acts 22:3, Paul calls himself a Jew. 2. Because the term "Jew" was a much later term applied to the House of Israel - primarily the House of Judah, and those lving in Judah, later called Judea, we will not find that word in the early history of the developing nation called Israel, such as in the Torah. 3. The earliest use of the word "Jew", (Jews) occuring in the Biblical text is in 2 Kings 16; first instance chronologically appearing in Scripture is in Jeremiah. Jer 34:8-9. Here Jeremiah, himself a Jew of the tribe of Benjamin clearly uses the term Hebrew and Jew synonymously. 4.The first use of the word "Hebrew" occurs in Scripture in Genesis 14:13 where Abram (later called Abraham by God) is referred to as a Hebrew. In Genesis 31:47 - The word "Hebrew" is first used to identify a language group of Abram's lineage. Joseph when he is incacerated in prison in Egypt on false charges identifies himself as a Hebrew - Genesis 39:14. 5. In Exodus 9:1 God tells Moses to go to Pharaoh with the following message - "Go in to Pharaoh and say to him, So says Jehovah the God of the Hebrews, Send away My people that they may serve Me." Here God calls the Hebews who had been enslaved in Egypt now for a few centuries, "My people". If you read Stephen's account in Acts 7, you will find that the ancient Hebrews were the forbears of Stephen's current Jewish generation. He goes into detail to prove this. 6. These same Hebrews - children of Abraham through Isaac and Jacob, were the same people whom Moses the Hebrew (of the tribe of Levi, son of Jacob) had to give the Law of God which he had received while in the Mt Sinai in the very presence of the Lving God. This Law was ratified with the blood of an animal, as a covenant between the Hebrews (forbears to the very same Hebrews who would later be called Jews) and God who gave them. 7. Exodus 19 and 20 need to be read together for understanding, and this is so for much of Scripture. Exodus 19:5 is the first instance of a covenant being made between the Hebrews - Israelites (children of Jacob whom God called Israel) adn the Living God, who had appeared to and spoken with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. See also Ex 24:7-8; Ex 34:27-28; also Leviticus 26:9, 15, 25; also Deuteronomy 4:15; 5:2-3; 9:9-11; 29:25. This covenant was not made with any of the sons of Ishmael (son to Abram by Hagar the Egyptian woman)... nor of the any of the sons of Esau, the firstborn son of Isaac by his wife Rebekkah. It was made exclusively to the Hebrews - sons of Israel that came out of Egypt by the hand of God through Moses. Exodus 19:1; 23:15; Numbers 32:11; Deuteronomy 4:45. This covenant that God cut with Israel, the Hebrews who came out of Egypt from slavery, was to be placed in an ark specially designed to carry the covenant in stone which God made with them. This ark was called the Ark of the Covenant. The Scriptures clearly bear witness to these facts. I hope that helps.

Not quite right his father an Idumean named Antipater was the chief minister to the last of the Maccabean rulers who had become weak end were sqabbleing over who would be priest and who would be king. Nicolas and Antipater consolidate power in their hands and murdered the last th Maccabean rulers. This led to th hasmonean Herod the Great to be king. Herod didn't treat anybody or anything "better". He was an ego-maniac who killed at will. His building projects drove the local people to near-starvation because of the taxes raised and the manpower needs to build his massive projects.

I’ve only just found this channel and some how I’m so drawn to keep watching.. I’m 42 years of age and all my life I’ve been going to Sunday worship (no more sun god worship after finding out TRUTH) and never been excited about it, 4 years ago I went through some hard times in my life and couldn’t find anything that could set me free from the pain that I endure.. and during those 4 years I have been so blessed with knowledge and truth and most importantly Gods LOVE! So true; God never leaves your side! After watch a few of Sergio & Rhoda’s videos, I feel so emotional knowing I may never walk Israel but seeing their videos I feel some kind of connection, thank God for people like them who share Gods work they have been appointed to do.. God blessed you both and all my brothers and sisters in Yahshua’s Holy name.
