The OV-10 Bronco's used By Cal-Fire stationed here at the Paso Robles municipal airport are something else to see. These craft have had there lower gun-pod stub winglets removed and an additional fuel tank added inside the rear cargo area to extend both range and loiter times over fires. Once you hear those twin T-76 engines howl, you'll always know it's a Bronco without looking up.

I would give anything to fly that for SoCal Fire. According to their website they want 1800TT. I only have 335. Sucks!

Same, except I just started flight school and haven't even finished my PPL yet. There's just something about that unique design. The Bronco has the coolest cockpit view I've ever seen, it would be a dream to fly it one day.

Very nice looking A/C, seems it could still be in use by our US military!
@jeffreycase2855 жыл бұрын
There is just something that appeals to me with this A/C the military was crazy for retiring it it would have been perfect in Afghanistan with light armament to pin down the enemy until heavier weapons could be brought to bear I would easily have volunteered to fly it for free no pay!
@radiobikini64296 жыл бұрын
They should add a tank to drop on the fire since it is there anyway.
@7echo4 жыл бұрын
It does the job it was designed to do, it spots the fire for the water bombers and tells them where to drop their load.
At about the same time, Canadair was showing, and testing, the CL-84 at several locations, and it performed rather well as a multi-role twin-turboprop aircraft, BUT it was a fully VTOL-capable tilt-wing! It had very fast transition from VTOL to fixed-wing cruise, and had sophisticated flight controls that made it much easier to fly than a helicopter, with quite a "seamless" transition from VTOL/STOL to normal cruise. 35 knots capability in both directions in hover. It tested very well as a weapons platform, easy to aim and quite stable. Unfortunately, it fell afoul of the "not invented in the USA" attitude of the US military, and was "replaced" by the UH-1, which had lower overall performance, and was more difficult to fly and maintain... sigh...
@wcolby4 жыл бұрын
That is not entirely accurate. the CL-84 did have control issues, and the phrase "only to be flown by test pilots". Even the v-22 had control issues, solved with powerful computers, the CL-84 was just too soon. Great aircraft but not what the government wanted for its military.

Just a heads up. It is against my religion to care what you and your less than one year old account think. This video is not fuzzy, The first part of the video is a picture of the aircraft more than two miles away. You might want to check the playback setting of your telephone before leaving a stupid comment.
