The Marines had flown this aircraft right up until 1990's. They used to put 4 or 5 Force recon guys in the back and then the OV10 would pull straight up and they would tumble out the door. Pretty cool to watch.

Yeah coooool! This IS my favorite flyer in my sim hangar. Looks, sounds & flys like the real bird. I get all jazzed up when spinning up on the flight line. Another reason I like flyin this bird is because visibility is excellent w/ the engines behind the cockpit. All you have to do is turn your head 90 deg to be reminded what's movin you through the air. I can fly in & out of landing strips 50% flaps that some wouldn't have the huevos to in single engines. Happy trails mi amigo :-))

This is one awesome plane (& pilot). I got over here from Aerosoft Fight Sim and plan on purchasing this bad boy for my collection. This pilot took it "over the top"! To bad he didn't have a cockpit camera.
@Helix510010 жыл бұрын
Took it over the top? I was backseat on the A models out of Chu Lai 1969 0 1970. We did so much more with that bird while loitering around looking for trouble! This was the first time I ever flew an aircraft since the pilots were at times good guys and taught us a few moves. All this French guy did was fly her straight and level! We did aileron rolls, loops, Immelmanns and 4 leaf clovers on the horizon and didn't break a sweat! Sweet plane gave me the bug and I was a pilot ever since!

Yea, I remember them cruising the air over my hometown Lubeck in North Germany. Must have been at least 25 years ago. I remember them being awfully loud. You get an idea of the sound at 10:44
@flynbike8 жыл бұрын
Fitzliputzli23 Yes, they are loud and distinctive. I feel like I grew up with them; dad worked at Garrett (now Honeywell) where the engines were made, and they were a frequent sight in the skies over Phoenix. Variants of the T76 (although I remember it as the TPE-331) powered the early Mitsubishi MU 2s and were fitted to Pilatus Turbo Porters as well, with the same characteristic whine. Danke.

This is one aircraft i would love to see one of the "how to fly" videos, like you see with light attack aircraft, and WWII aircraft, starting with the walk around, preflight, takeoff, a short flight, and landing. all narrated with GoPro attached to pilot's helmet, so you can see switch locations etc... (and if not in english, have english subtitles)....

MrRexQuando You have to reverse the props to unlock the blades. When you reverse it, it pushes back and raises the wing. I was a crew chief on 67-14687 at Osan. Anybody out there know about the 'Cricket Shack'?
@mikoriad8 жыл бұрын
Actually this happened because of the push back they did on the aircraft. It's due to the suspension configuration in this aircraft. When they pushed back it raised the nose and because of the turn they made, the slight uneven forces to the gear unloaded one side. It's just the physics of the gear geometry here. Once the engines were started and run up, then the brakes released for a moment everything settled. ... I love this aircraft, I want one for personal use.

not greman.The North American Rockwell OV-10 Bronco is a turboprop light attack and observation aircraft. It was developed in the 1960s as a special aircraft for counter-insurgency (COIN) combat, and one of its primary missions was as a forward air control (FAC) aircraft. It can carry up to three tons of external munitions, and loiter for three or more hours.

This is one of the most terribly edited video I have ever seen. A house fly would be more interesting to watch. The same landing takeoff footage multiple times. There is no doubt this appears to be an average pilot that is totally unfamiliar with what this aircraft is capable of and who appears to be totally intimidated by this beautiful aircraft.
@oliviervanbellinghen93939 жыл бұрын
+Andy Hutchinson The pilot is a former French jet fighter pilot, with several combat missions (may be that "average" for you), he clearly explains that he flew this plane for 4/5 years now, and that legislation, security measure for the public restrain his demonstration flight, and that the Bronco can do much more. I agree that maybe english subtitles would have help...

@@oliviervanbellinghen9393 no need for subtitles, just let the guys learn a bit french. ;-) ....and Andy just don’t watch it, no one forces you. The disrespect some people show towards others that take the time to film and upload these, just incredibly bad manors .
