Thanks for the fine work! Need to add this flight to list. My father was a B26 pilot in WWII (58 missions!) and frequently flew the mail run between the UK and Reykjavik, where is was rumored that a member of his crew smuggled liquor (scotch was very popular). Flight Ideas: The US coast-to-coast mail run with radio only instruments. One or two of the airports are gone, but nearby substitutes are available. Lindbergh was one of the pilots. Another is retracing Steven Coonts' routes (two loops) in "The Cannibal Queen: An Aerial Odyssey Across America" (1992). Loop 1 has 54 legs, loop 2 has 42. I did this one summer in a Skyhawk - about 150 hours of fly time.

Thanks for commenting @Mike Porter. My maternal grandfather was the top turret gunner on a B26 stationed in N. Africa, with most missions over Sicily and Italy. Nice to meet someone else with a connection to the Marauder! Thanks for those great flight ideas. I'll tuck those away for another time when I'm between projects!

Awesome report, thanks for sharing. Maybe you should load up Aeroworx, reverse our route, and fly N341A back home virtually.

Great video, even nicer to see one of my liveries (N341A) taking spotlight, thanks guys. :o)

Thank you, sir! Livery making is not one of our talents, and N341A is a real beauty. Now if only we had a Flight Brothers FT livery...

Great video. I learned a lot How about doing the southern ferry route, which was Miami, to the Bahamas, northern South America, across to Accra, Khartoum, then Cairo.

We are glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for taking time to comment. The southern route would be awesome to fly, maybe we will get around to it someday.

I have flown this route in my Virtual Airline, using the AeroWorx C47, many times, with Littlenavmap. Excellent video. Well done Sirs. 👏
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting! I had a great time flying the route. Did you use radio navigation or GPS?
@WilliamBugeater64Simpson4 жыл бұрын
@@FlightBrothersFT As much as I love old radial engine planes, I equipped the AeroWorx C47 with dual GTN750s for the long flights. LOL Simple answer, 'GPS'.
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
No shame in that. I did radios this time for the experience, but I'm certain I'll use GPS if I repeat the run.

@@FlightBrothersFT The simple autopilot works very well in the bird. I use it with my GTNs for my FSEconomy flights. Now i've started an virtual business in AirHauler2 for X-Plane 11. Real fun. Much more involved than FSE.

I was just watching your Air Hauler video. Good stuff. Flight Bro Lee just picked it up and plans to do a video with it soon. He used to be very into FSE.

Very cool channel. Im glad i discovered (and subbed) it for sure when looking for some info on the DC-3 for X-Plane, which im sticking to for now. So far, MSFS2020 does not have the planes I want to fly, beautiful scenery or not. But im sure there will come a day when I will hop on the MSFS wagon. In the mean time, please dont forget to make content for X-Plane ;) Just once in awhile...lol

Welcome to the channel! We are definitely keeping Xplane, so you do not need to worry about that.

Thanks for a really interesting video! It looks really challenging to fly these legs, but it just takes too long for me to try it out. I'm not a long haul fan, my flights tend to be max 2h. Ha ha! But kudos to you who made it!!
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You could always try the trip in something small and fast, like a Pilatus PC-12 or a TBM. The DC3 I used is extremely slow.

@@FlightBrothersFT Hmmm, you're right! Or maybe a ferry flight of an ERJ 145, on the same route. I only use VOR navigation when I fly them anyway. Interesting! Thanks for the inspiration!

Interesting topic. We'll need to do some research first, but it sounds like something we could do.

Great video. How about recreating the original Lindbergh flight...Just thinking out loud...
@FlightBrothersFT4 жыл бұрын
It's a great thought. It would be interesting to try and find an Xplane aircraft to mimic the Spirit of St. Louis.

I believe FS9 CoF had some of these “missions”.
@rbsims63764 жыл бұрын
@@FlightBrothersFT I used to own FS2004. A big part of that sim was the missions you were encouraged to fly. I believe "Lindbergh" was one of them. Along with "Earhart" and others....

RbSims yeah I think they also had the Wright Brothers first flight, and “Secret Shuttle”.

Any advancement to improve safety is well worth it. I’d imagine giving early explorers the technology we have now, none would turn it down.

@@FlightBrothersFT as long as the benefit outweighs the cons yes. Agreed. In real life I would take whatever help I could get, but I would definitely keep a nice old paper flightplan as a backup.
