I basically grew up in Allegany State Park, so it’s always great to see that part of the country. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks so much for checking out my video. We spent a day in the state park visiting many of the main features. Its a really nice place. It was our first time there, hope to return in the future.

I live 35 miles from here and really enjoy when I hike this section! The schoolhouse campsite is the perfect distance from the trailhead to bring someone who really isn't sure about backpacking. It would give them a quick idea about backpacking without hiking a longer distance.

Thanks so much for checking out my video. This was our first time on the NCT. We picked this section mainly out of convenience to our campsite but it was indeed a pleasant walk. We’re over 8 hour drive from that part of PA so hard to say when or if we’ll get, but would be nice to hike some more of this trail.

Thanks so much, my friend! It was just woods but it was a beautiful morning and our first time on this major long trail.

The last of our leaves came down about the first week or two of November. I believe you are correct on the woolly worm... A different looking pole with only the one adjustment latch...
@SmellNRoses2 жыл бұрын
We had hoped for peak colors in northern PA for October but it was still a lot of green on this hike. So far the Wooly Worn was correct, we’ve only had a few cold days so far and no wintry weather yet. We usually get at least a little snow in December. Yes I wanted to like these poles, they seem well made, but the lack of full adjustability is a buzzkill. Thanks so much for watching, my friend!

That was beautiful hiking weather. I thought your son was believing that you were hiking to North Dakota. Lol.

Thanks so much, my friend! The weather was beautiful that morning. Yeah my boy said we should wait until he’s out of school to hike to North Dakota, otherwise we wouldn’t have enough time lol!

I'm looking forward to y'all's NCT thru hike,LOL! I'm with ya on the poles,I never use the wrist straps because I've always thought if I ever tripped and fell I could easily break my wrists if they're all strapped up. Some nice terrain there.
@SmellNRoses2 жыл бұрын
It was just woods but very peaceful and scenic and it was cool to take our first steps on this very long trail. Thru hiking this one would be quite the challenge. Yes I have the same feeling about the wrist straps. If you wear then correctly then supposedly that wouldn’t happen but personally I prefer not to risk it. Thanks for watching, my friend!

In regards to the straps on trekking poles, if you wear them correctly you won't have any issues, I've tripped and fallen several times w/out any problems. (I can be a klutz at times Lol)

That looked like a nice hike for you two. Weird that they made a trekking g pole that doesn't collapse more than that.

It was just woods but still a fun and beautiful hike. Yeah I don’t know what’s up with the poles. It did kind of grow on me the longer I used it, but I’ve got a set of Outdoor Research poles, similar price point to these, but much better design and way more adjustable for the perfect fit. Anyway, thanks for watching, my friend. As always much appreciated.

I like the idea of small sections rather than the whole way to North Dakota😊 Lovely walking through the autumnal woods.and a great day to be out hiking in the fresh air (no matter what state you are in)👣👍

Yes that trail is over 4,600 miles...better take it in small sections 😅. It was a beautiful day out there and a fantastic walk. Thanks so much for watching!

Nicely done !! I hiked over 50 miles of the NCT in 2020. This year it’s my goal to do all 91 of the NCT miles that pass through the Allegheny National Forest in sections. I live about 35 miles from the ANF’s southern boundary. I always use YT for campsite research and your video popped up in my recommended videos this morning. Enjoy that time spent with your son. They grow up all too quickly.

Thank you so much for checking out my video. That’s a nice goal to complete all the sections of the NCT that pass through the national forest. Its awesome to have such a resource close to your home. Here in my home area in southern Virginia, I live a short drive away from both the George Washington and the Jefferson National Forests, and much of the Appalachian Trail is easily accessible, so I know the feeling. This was our first time in the Allegheny NF and our first steps on the NCT. We loved our visit and perhaps we’ll return in the future. If you have not done this section of the trail, the Schoolhouse campsite wasn’t bad, I’d definitely stay there if I was backpacking through there. There were no other campsites on the short section we did. Thanks again for checking out my video. I’ll be sure to subscribe you so I can see more of the NCT and your area.

David Schmude, I have the same plan as you, to hike the NCT in the ANF! Have you heard of the Allegheny 100? It is an event where people hike all the NCT in the ANF in less than 50 hours. It would definitely take me a lot longer to do so. I live 35 miles from the NCT trailhead on the northern part of the ANF.
