Firstly, thanks to Chimera State for a great video. North Cyprus is not occupied by Turkey. North Cyprus has its own democratically elected government in free and fair elections. It is supported by Turkey, but it is NOT occupied or governed by Turkey. North Cyprus won its independence after the Greek Cypriots tried to unite the whole island with Greece. Thus the island became divided. Greek Cypriots in the South and Turkish Cypriots in the North. Furthermore, in 2004, a plan devised and sponsored by the United Nations (called The Annan Plan) to unite the island, was put to ALL Cypriot people in a referendum. The Turkish Cypriots accepted the plan. The Greek Cypriots rejected it. Thus the Greek Cypriots rejected the only real chance to unite the island. An important point to note here is that if North Cyprus was occupied by Turkey, or if it was a puppet state of Turkey, then the people of North Cyprus would never of been free to take part in, and vote in favour of, a referendum to unite the island with the Greek side. The fact that the North actually voted to unite with the South proves they are free and not occupied. The presentation is deceiving and just a PR advert not a genuine opinion or view. north Cyprus is not an ‘island’ or a ‘country’. And if you get into trouble with the police or hospital it is extremely difficult for your government to help and assist. There are prisoners there without Human Rights, criminals in the run due to the lack of any extradition. Women running from social services and custody orders reside there to escape the law too. The property is an extremely sensitive issue as it was taken from other people following the conflict in 1974, if the country was recognised non of these issues would exist, despite the conflict. Beware, do your own research before following you tube videos for advice.

Northern Cyprus is fantastic: people are welcoming and respect full with foreign touristes. It is not the case with Southern Cyprus, where foreign tourists are only seen as milking cows. Turkish Cypriotes are hard working and honest, which is not the case with Greek Cypriots who have been spoiled by EU "magic" money.

My family is from the north of Cyprus. They are Greek Cypriots. The Turkish army invaded and took their homes by force. Turkey still has not financially compensated the families that they evicted. The north of Cyprus is not internationally recognised. It is very upsetting to watch videos on holidays in the north and buying property there. Very insensitive.

Turkish Army exercised its right according to peace treaty to use force to bring peace to the Island. This is an unbiased history. Greece invaded, Turkey exercised its given peace treaty right to answer back and establish peace.

TurkishCypriots back then were around 100.000, what are you taking about 30% ? Also, the president of Cyprus (Makarios) didn't want any anext to Greece. EOKA B wanted. Lastly, the peace treaty of 1960 is saying (till today) that the gurantee countries must safe Cyprus Republic from any danger, Turkey is occupying Cyprus Republic, so is against the treaty. This is unbiased history and the true facts. Keep studying about Cyprus, true knowledge is good in order to avoid past mistakes.

I always wanted to live in greece. Since i was a kid i go there for summer but there is a big problem. Getting citizenship is almost impossible without engagement. You should learn the history before making a documentary, it is not north cyprus but illegally occupied by Turkey, it is not an independent state but cities which were divided, brutally invaded and their inhabitants raped and killed by Turkish soldiers, remaining 200,000+ people where forced out of their homes and had to migrate to the non-occupied cities and live as homeless people in tents for months or years to come. At least 500,000 Turkish settlers who had nothing to do with Cyprus where brought to those invaded and occupied parts and placed in peoples homes, they still live their to this day. The United Nations and every country in the world condems Turkey's actions and are even more illegal and unjustified than Russia's invasion in Ukraine.
