NORTH EAST DERBY - NEWCASTLE vs SUNDERLAND

A short documentary about Newcastle and Sunderland's notorious football derby.
This was a university project. My aim was to give a kind of anthropological inside look at the derby and give a sense what its like to experience it and what it means to the fans. Its a culture iv'e grown up around but have never been apart of.

As a gooner of course for the best derby is and always will be the north London one, however my friend plays for newcastle and he's father is the first team goalie coach and the Geordies always are in full voice whenever I go and see them and I, sure the mackems are too, this always looks like a great derby

Very strange that we are called SAD when we can take defeat without demeaning a woman by having her stand on a phone box while she is sexually groped and then smashing up our own town centre. The point is that while we work with each other and share most of our genes there is something about the nurture aspect of nature vs nurture that expresses itself horribly in Newcastle supporters. We can still celebrate our football team even in defeat whilst Newcastle fans seem to be "nurtured" to believe that defeat by the enemy requires behaviour of the most bizzarre and distressing kind. BTW you aren't a geordie for supporting NUFC - you are a geordie by being born on the banks of the tyne as I was.

I'm sorry, I Didn't realise we are in an English lesson. I'm a Newcastle supporter, Who cares if we got demolished by villa? We still got a draw in the end, everybody has there good games and bad games. At the end of the day Newcastle Have One of the best atmosphere's in the Premier League.
