If these "North Korean" troops are half as tough as South Korean troops then they're excellent troops.

Some of the other reports have also been have good rifle skills, follow orders well and are generally physically fit. It seems the biggest issue with the North Koreans is that their tactics are outdated and they've struggled to coordinate well with Russian forces as well as some friendly fire issues. Also if the extent of North Korean deployment is only 11,000 troops then it won't change that much at a strategic level. While they clearly aren't up to western standards in a war like Ukraine where both sides have stretched resources and manpower North Korean soldiers can pose a real threat and shouldn't be dismissed purely based on stereotypes.

WHY are Asian troops fighting in Ukraine??? Where are the reinforcements for Ukraine, that is fighting "on behalf of Europe"??
@harryw29037 сағат бұрын
Of course they are they’re professional soldiers. I knew it was complete wishful thinking all those experts saying they’re inexperienced etc etc
@Austech33 минут бұрын
They are inexperienced, they are from a country that doesn't allow people in and out. You cant be experienced when you haven't fought anyone. Being a professional soldier and being experienced are two different things.

There’s a great indie podcast called The China Show that covered North Korean soldiers. They’re not incompetent; they’re in starvation mode.

Basically all money and effort in North Korea is put in their military. People are disciplined, drilled and toughened from a young age. They might not have the best technology and intelligence, but I'm not surprised their soldiers fight well.

The distant clips from drones show them on foot to the front line. Nobody's going to be looking like god of war on Shanks Pony. I expect what he means is once they're entrenched or in cover. If they are serving troops in DPRK they may well be well-trained in close-quarters? They'll likely have low 'comfort expectations' too, and be more highly motivated by arriving (mentally) from another dimension.
@blastermike_sd70ace807 сағат бұрын
You've seen short clips that are from drones. Does that show what tactics they use ? Their equipment ? Individual movement technique ? How well their marksmanship is ? Did it show if they draw range cards in a static position? What about their op orders/chain of command ? War is complex, you can't ascertain things from a couple drone feeds.

@amorelus11 сағат бұрын
Correct me on this. It's not the troops that's bad, It's either the training and or their leaders that causes them to be bad at what they do. in WWII French troops didn't ant to surrender to Germans, but the Generals and Gov't thought they were in WWI and wanted to surrender. The troops wanted to fight still no matter the odds against them.
@awnzotheman7 сағат бұрын
Well, it's not that hard to see the issue with N.K. soldiers. First, they are slave soldiers. Second, they are not up to date with tech and warfare. Third and prob most important, Ukrainians have had the most experience with modern combat and almost all of modern Western and Eastern equipment and strategies.
@atomic09144 сағат бұрын
@@awnzothemanthese North Korean troops are highly motivated and well fed, they're the spear head force. Their training is upto standards, only error here is lack of North Korean equipment for their doctrine.

It's a great shame that we will probably never confirm 100% that these are North Koreans - RuZZia, nor North Korea will ever admit it and the tracks have certainly already been covered - even in the case of the one who had a Russian ID/military card - the tracks will be covered there too.......
@gamlaman17 сағат бұрын
Two of them have been captured, and they confirmed that they are indeed North Koreans. One of them said he wants to go back to North Korea, the other guy said he would go back if the Ukrainians ordered him to, but he would prefer to stay in Ukraine. That's 100% proof, and I'm sure there's more.

DNA test. Very simple. They speak only Korean. They have (only one of them) a fake military ID without a photo. They can deny it, but facts are facts.
@TheFeldhamster15 сағат бұрын
It shouldn't be too hard - those 2 that were captured and interviewed spoke Korean. Get a language specialist and determine whether it's NK dialect. There's no people in Russia who speak Korean with NK dialect "by accident". NK is closed off. If there's people who speak NK found in Russia, then they're from NK.
