Pupils from North Lanarkshire Schools' pipe bands became overnight social media stars after an online clip was viewed more than 2 million times
The footage of the youngsters playing Scotland the Brave and Rowan Tree to hundreds of people at Grand Central Station in New York went viral after it was posted by education convener Cllr Frank McNally.

the snares sound so cool with that amount of reverb. there's no better sound in the world than hearing a pipe band echoing back at you, i can't explain it. i've been to hundreds of metal gigs but a live pipe band is still the best sound i've ever heard. or maybe "felt" is the word

@@brad5983 Bagpipes are a huge part of Scottish culture. When many think of bagpipes, they think of Scotland, or Scottish pipes playing in the Scottish Highlands. There's plenty of bagpipes native to Scotland. Among them, the Great Highland Bagpipe is the most well-known worldwide.

Does anybody have footage of the crowd cheering afterwards? I'm sure they did. Truly one of the most soul-rousing things I've ever seen in my life. It's really beyond description how beautiful it was. Well done to those boys and girls, what an achievement to bring such pride to so many people!

I lived and worked in NYC for 20 years and arrived at and left from GCT* every day for 11 of those years. *GCT is Grand Central Terminal. It's not a Station, because trains don't arrive there from somewhere and then go on to somewhere else. It's the final stop for all Metro North train lines into the City and the place from which all of those trains going out of the City start.
