My pops was the man helping load the people into that chopper; he had the pleasure of working with the Mountain Rescue Aspen crew for about 30 years before he was whisked off this planet a few years ago in a tragic avalanche accident. I remember how he mentioned that he helped lift these people in despite having a few cracked ribs himself hahaha... He was a hero and I am going to miss him till the day I inevitably join him. Here’s to all the brave people out there willing to risk their necks saving and recovering other people who have stumbled into trouble on these treacherous mountains! May we all be capable of learning from their compassion. And thank you for uploading this video, it's a great way to help remember the man that he was.

I live In Eagle County, Colorado, where these Blackhawk pilots are based (HAATS). The men flying these UH-60s and CH-47s train other pilots to fly these types of missions. You can rest assured that if you get into a bad situation on a climb, or anywhere in the backcountry in CO, you have the best available people coming to save your butt. True unsung heroes. The mountain rescue groups are badass, too!

Those pilots that have to rescue those people deserve all RESPECT in the world for flying that close is AWESOME!!! Hi Darryl! First off, a huge Thank You. Please pass that along to your other crew members. You guys are The Best. I did not get any video from the second landing. I was a bit busy handing you poles and packs. I shot some from inside, but none of it came out at all. I'll blame that on my un-familiarity with the new iOS7 on my phone. Next time I'll have it dialed.

@@JohnTYoung kind of grin to hear that, and I'm glad you have caution in those situations but can get through it. I'm a pilot but I have fear of heights when on the ground-which doesn't make sense to me and I have admiration for those who can overcome it. I pictured a sheer drop of 1500 feet on the other side of the rock they were stepping on.
