north nomad life: reindeer for diner, home chores in tundra

This documentary was filmed for a local TV-channel I used to work for some years ago. That was the moment when i got so fascinated about north nomads life.The channel is no longer exist. But i came across this documentary in a archive and edited it a bit for youtube. i think it deserved to be seen by more people.
PS I am sorry for uploading this video. It was taken down by KZbin before. So i edited this video and hope everything will be ok this time

Highly recommend anyone interested in this read Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Gathering Moss! She talks about how indigenous North Americans also used moss as diapers and menstrual padding but it wasn’t documented by colonial writers/history because they didn’t bother to pay attention to what mothers were doing or looked down on those topics.

Женщина совсем молоденькая и уже трое детей, нужно натаскать воды, напилить и нарубить дров , неужели мужчины не могут сделать эту работу, ведь сейчас есть пилы. У меня всегда муж занимался этим, я помогала укладывать поленницы. Женщину нужно беречь, она мать, ей всегда забот хватает.

Ciężkie mają życie ludzie, którzy tam żyją. Ale myślę, że są szczęśliwi bo są do takiego życia przyzwyczajeni. Być może są szczęśliwsi niż ludzie żyjący w miastach. Nie podoba mi się tylko to, że w tej rodzinie jest wszystko bardzo brudne. Brudne są dzieci, ubrania, garnki, miski itp. Rozumiem, że warunki są trudne ale w namiotach innych rodzin żyjących w tundrze był dużo większy porządek i ludzie sprawiali wrażenie czystych i dużo bardziej zadbanych.

The people in this video are Nenets. I can hear Nenets language. In other videos, where people are apparently "clean" are Khanty people. These are very different ethnic groups, and languages are very different as well, even though on the surface they might look similar. I am not stating that all Nenets are dirty or all Khanty are clean, but in overall Nenets are more like "children of nature" than Khanty.

However, these women aren't confined into golden cages. They live in mobile tents, and they pack up everything, and move on after every few days or weeks. They can travel thousands of kilometres like that. It gives a lot more feeling of freedom.
