Fun to see the Kitchen Hole again. That used to be my back yard when I was the chef at Steamboat Inn.

What is the name of your favorite local steelhead river? I'd love to come film it, put it on the internet. May just title the film the name of that river too.

Sorry you didn't like the video! If you ever run into me on the water, I'll happily chat with you.

@@AndrewHarryOutdoors I think the video is wonderful. You did a great job editing and capturing quality content. And, having an understanding of the impact associated with exposure through naming rivers on such highly trafficked platforms is important. I think there should be more thought about etiquette when choosing to make and share these videos. My take. Glad you had the opportunity to enjoy/experience that river.

Around 1980 someone released Smallmouth Bass into the lower Umpqua and they survived making them the alpha dominate food eaters. The bass can decimate the migrating fry as they try to return to the ocean. In 1988 I moved to live in a small town near this river and experienced poor fishing then saw it first hand by scuba diving its waters.

I never knew about that. What a shame. In California people actively try to protect some invasives like Striper, Lake Trout, etc.

You did a great job with this video and really captured the essence of the river but I’m begging you on the next go around can we please keep river names and especially the names of specific pools off of the internet.

Problem with the river is that fish have been managed out of existence. 1970s up to 17000 fish traveled up the north. Last year less than 2000. Summer fish. Winter fish run not as bad

Wow! That's staggering. Unfortunately it seems like most Pacific watersheds have similar stories...
