Nice pattern. Why do you use a stinger hook? Seems like a fly that would work well on just a hook?

The hook to land ratio goes way up on stinger/tube style hooks vs. traditional style hooks. Especially when fishing barbless. A longer shank hook acts as a lever. So when a fish rolls or changes directions, it is easier for them to come un-hooked or wear a bigger hole where they are hooked.

Calvin cuts a up eye steelhead hook so it’s not exact but I measured his ties against some shanks and they are about 20mm long if you just buy a a bag of shanks
