I have watched many of your videos... and I appreciate each and every one. Maybe just maybe... you're an old soul like myself. I enjoy odd ball calibers and those older designs are beautiful to me. Carrying one is nostalgic and others appreciate seeing them out and about. Especially at the range! I'm with you... If the value is $$$$... I wouldn't hunt with it.

I just love some designs that just feel right when you pick them up.

The only way to hunt with classic rifles is to get ready for a cardio workout. I still do it but I as well as you do have our lite rifles-- nothing like sitting on a ridge with the walnut rifle leaning against a tree.

Yeah, I agree with you and have the same feelings toward the classics. I enjoy your videos and love the rifles you have.

I know exactly what you mean. All I hunt with is collector rifles always. But I'm super careful and never damaged one yet. You take a chance but I figure that's what they were originally made for. There is no better feeling than hunting with one to me.

I love hunting whitetail here in the New England (Vermont) woods with my late Grandfather's 1948 Winchester 94. I thought about putting a low power scope on it but I felt guilty about it. It shoots great with its tang mounted peep. Just the way gramp hunted with it for 40 years before he passed in 1990.

what a treasure trove of fine old "hunting" rifles you have. Just beautiful as well as totally perfect for the job. Had to chuckle a little at that sling when you pulled up the 99. Please don't disgrace that fine rifle with such a gawd awful sling lol. As you stated if you were to put another dent in the stock it doesn't matter too much, so go ahead and mount a sling swivel in the buttstock and a sleeve swivel on the barrel, then a nice leather sling to match the wood color. Yeah, it's a pet peeve of mine to see classic firearms with hideous slings on them. Good luck afield this year.

Yup..that sling is something to behold. However, I am such a cheap bugger.

Ive got the same Steyr rifles in 308 win, an old Winchester 1895 30-40, several pristine Winchester 71's, Winchester 1886's, and some old Savage 99 leverguns. Im a lefty shooter so the leverguns work well for me and i use a lefty Ruger scout rifle and Ruger compact rifle 338RCM. I enjoy your channel very much and many of my arms are similiar or just like yours. Im late 40's in age and am getting to the point where i only enjoy using quality classic arms . My left hand Ruger 77 models and those classic leverguns just work easier for me and handle nicely. Ive got modern high tech light weight mountain rifle but the handling isnt so great and when a man carries an good old Savage 99 or especually an old Winchester 71 the rifle just fits better for fast off hand standing shots. I hate bench shooting and treasure shooting offhand and field position in real conditions. Who knows, maybe we're related as we have the same tastes in arms and historical interests. At lesst in taste we are. Thanks for your nice arms and video.

Thanks, North61. I wondered about you and your moose hunt. I think you showed good discretion in not shooting a moose although I imagine it would have been a rush to have used the .350 Rem Mag . Be safe. Has Covid been bad in your neck of the woods? Safest place to be is out in the woods or on the water these days. My favorite of your classic rifles would be the Savage 99 regardless of caliber. Good luck on your bison hunt.

The average Lamborghini owner (who also owns five other vehicles) drives the car about 2,500 miles per year. Which makes me wonder what's the point of owning one. It's sort of the same thing with a classic rifle or shotgun. They're *meant* to be used.

Great video! Now you have got me wanting a 9.3 and kicking myself for not getting a lefty that came up last year. I have an old model 88 in 358 win that I use all the time as a truck gun. Now that would be a crime if one of the previous owners had not refinished the stock, possibly more than once and now it has no checking as well as a poorly repaired large crack behind the action as well as a home shop version of a muzzle break and zero original bluing. Other than that it shoots great but certainly is not worth the thousands you see some posted for. Good luck on your bison adventure.
