Beautiful habitat - amazingly clear considering the recent rains. Stunning footage by Jason as usual.

This is what I call the sweet spot time, when the rain first hits it is cloudy from all the dust and sediment, then after a week or so the water is still flowing really well and it is crystal clear, if it now stops raining with in a few more weeks all the land grasses and weeds dye off and it gets an algae bloom for awhile and then it settles back down again and the aquatic plants take over, so now and after all that process is the best time to film, but in the later it will never be this clear again, once the water get age to it, it will be clear but have a green tint to it.

You followed and filmed the river down its length? That is insane, meant in the best possible way! :D It is also very nice to see rainbow fish in nature. In aquariums they often get very "bulky", but not so much in nature. I guess it has something to do with food and water flow. Water flow is a tricky one though, from what I have seen in nature (when catching cray fish at night for the yearly feast), fish often rest in slower mowing water during the night, then go out in he fast flowing water during the day. Perhaps it could be solved (in aquariums) with an extra pump (with no filter) that is only running during daytime.

I am in the process of doing that, but we had a couple of big floods that really damaged the river unfortunately, still that is part of the documentation. And yes that would work well, I have to seen that they hide in calmer water at night.

@@australianbiotopes4563 yes, I´ve noticed the floods. We have them here too, yesterday it rained what is normal for the whole month in one day. Luckily not much damage and no one died, but I have yet to see the impact on the waterways. Flooding is one of the things that really worries me, and it is all over the world. Then it is the drought. Something is clearly wrong. But we try to keep up the good work, right?

@@jokervienna6433 We get floods here all the time to, but the problem with the last two we had I they were so big and so close together it has done some damage that might take years to recover, we used to get a flood and it would recover a couple of months after, this time it has killed all the mangroves on the river bank and they take years to come back so there is nowhere for the small fish to hide, all the vallisneria nana bed are gone, this was vital for our endangered lungfish for food and for breeding ground, it is so bad that our water corporation has started farming it to put back into the river, this has never happened before that I know of, it has been over a year since the last flood and the river still looks bad were normally it would of recovered by now, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for it, I just hope we don't get another one in the near future as people have re-planted trees and are trying to replace the aquatic plants it would be devastating.

@@australianbiotopes4563 so sad to hear about extreme floods and the damage from them! I recall I might have read about this somewhere. I didn´t know it was this river though (it might have been another river, I guess the same damage happened in many places). Great that there is restoring taking place. I truly hope it all goes well! I have seen many waterways getting restored now, but more in general, not after flooding damage. That makes me happy, there is some hope still left. Folks doing the right things.

@@jokervienna6433 Yes we have a lot of people here that do good things to restore these places, we have had many floods here in different places in the last few years.
