I would probably cry if I ever went there. This show meant so much to me and my family. My sons were little when it was on but we watched and enjoyed it together and still talk about it today. Even though this show was a total artistic triumph it also reminds us how crass and insulting to the intelligence that most other movies and TV shows are. Excellent job capturing these views.

Thank you, Robert! Most everything outdoors was filmed on location in Roslyn, but some scenes were filmed at or near Cle Elum Lake, (I have a video of a drive there filmed the same day I did this one), also North Bend and Easton WA were used as well. All the town shots were on site. Ruth Ann’s store, the KBHR radio station and Dr. Fleischman’s office were filmed on location, and they actually used false walls depending on the scene. Originally many indoor scenes were filmed on a soundstage in Bellevue WA, but moved to Redmond WA where the remainder of the inside scenes in the series was shot. They tried to use as many on site buildings as possible, but unfortunately they could not use the Brick, and most if not all scenes were filmed in Redmond. At least they got many shots of the building and entrance itself! Just know that all the outdoor scenes are authentic, and it’s a great feel when you visit the town. Thank you again for watching!
@robertstapleton3598
@robertstapleton3598 10 ай бұрын
@@michelemcdanieltravels Thanks for all that info! Must've been fun to drive though those places. I guess my question though is: was it ever necessary to enhance the real snow in the outdoor shots with artificial snow to achieve a particular look at a particular location?
@michelemcdanieltravels
@michelemcdanieltravels 10 ай бұрын
The weather in Roslyn is quite snowy during winter. But they do have dry years, so maybe they would have trucked some in from Snoqualmie Pass if needed. I can say that I was there in winter when they were shooting a scene in 1995, and the snow was very real!
@robertstapleton3598
@robertstapleton3598 10 ай бұрын
@@michelemcdanieltravels I'm sure most of it is real - no reason to think otherwise. I'm just curious because I know that shooting scenes can require continuity and weather can change quickly. I picture in my mind a big burly dude in charge of snow continuity that travels around pulling a trailer full of the fake stuff. Haha! I also love the old cars you can see in the background. They have two or maybe three Willys which are way high on the "cool" meter. Those are from the 50's and have a history of being able to go over any terrain no matter how rugged.

Thanks so much for this. I'm heading out for a wedding in Rosylyn and between me and YT I'm more excited that I'll get to see the scenes of NE than the wedding itself. I'll use your video as a guide on all the places I should visit. Anywhere that you didn't mention in the video that are worth a visit? All the places and locations are Google-able? Did I miss the radio station? Where did they fling the piano? And is the laundromat still there? And best place for souvenirs?
@michelemcdanieltravels
@michelemcdanieltravels 10 ай бұрын
@myrealboxmail you’re welcome! Yes you can just Google a filming location map for NE. It’s hard to locate some of the spots based on those alone, but totally doable. I just filmed the most popular ones. Yes the radio station is in the video, but it was moved in 2015 10 feet over to the other side of the flower shop. If you look at an episode you’ll see what I mean. Not sure where they flung the piano! They used the area surrounding Roslyn a lot, mostly near Cle Elum Lake. Thanks for watching and have fun!

It's been 4 years now since the wife and I and our 2 fur kids visited my daughter in Seattle. We spent the week before 4th of July on the Olympic Penusuila, and the following weekend camped at a state park north of Roslyn. We walked the streets of "Cicely" and I couldn't keep from grinning, probably like an idiot. A local fellow was happy to take our picture in front of the mural, and although the brick wasn't open yet, workers at the side entrance said "Come on in if you want to take some pictures", and we did of course, one at a time 'cause we had the dogs with us. That's small town USA for sure. I wanted a pic of me and the dogs under "The Brick" sign, so my wife crossed the street, took the pic and we moved on to the campground. After the trip google made us a album of our trip, and then we saw that in that pic by the steps of The Brick our "Buddy the Wonder Hound" Had hiked his leg and peed on the trash can. Sorry for the disrespect, but I guess he had to go! It was great to visit, and I would love to return during Moosefest, find the spot where Ruth-Ann was burried and dance there (by the way, my all time favorite tv scene, so I have a reason to return to "Cicely).
