There is only One Solution to the division in the North of Ireland. Britain should set a Date for the Reunification of Ireland, and Pull Out Graceful when the Year comes. This way it won't happen too harsh, and will give People Time to decide whether to stay and make a New Life for their families, or wish to return to Britain to Family. There is way too many divisions ,and too much dependency on Westminster to try fix the eternal issues that remain in the Present, and that belong in the Past.

I’m afraid that’s not how it works a referendum is required
@georgebrowne59352 жыл бұрын
@@cianstapleton4063 I am aware of that, but that's inevitable with the change of Population demographics, and will eventually be passed, and then we all have to go through the same nonsense of threats of violence from certain groups of Unionists that can't come to terms of Democracy. The further the DUP Push with their narrative and division, (and they will) the Quicker this referendum will come to pass.

I am not sure the very large percentage of the NI population that consider themselves to be as British as someone born in York or Swansea for example would be particularly keen on your idea. A person born in NI would hardly be 'returning home' by moving to England, they already are home.

@@davidk7262 They were born on the Island of Ireland in a small part still under British Jurisdiction. It's up to Unionists to decide whether they love their homeland more in Britain, or would prefer to stay after reunification. Of course the Referendum will have to be passed in favour first. Democracy will decide.

@@georgebrowne5935 The island of Ireland and NI are not one and the same. Perhaps one day democracy will decide but there is zero prospect of that any time soon.

Great show! So interesting. We don’t hear much about N Ireland on the news or anywhere. Wish Scotland was able to trade with the EU like N Ireland considering Scots voted 67% to remain in the EU. Independence is Scotland,s next step and it has to be very soon.

As an Irish person I thought this was very good. An unbiased Scottish View about how things are in Northern Ireland at the moment. Northern Ireland has unfeathered access to UK market and also the EU Market, The Best of Both Worlds. Don't you think that Scotland and Wales would like to have that opportunity. The unionists position is based solely on political views and the more moderate parties see the advantages of being in both markets. The elections coming up next May will tell a tale.

As an irish person you have no say in UK affairs, best keep your nose out. NI does not have unfettered access to UK and EU markets, there are barriers to trade with GB our biggest market. The political ramifications of the protocol are much more serious than the economic damage which costs NI about 2.5 million £/day. The fact that nationalists are talking up the prospects of a united ireland is very destructive to NI and shows the canker of the protocol. If you want peace and stability in NI then the protocol has to go and the GFA needs fixing to give full legal protection to the consent principles. If not...

Jim Shannon spoke well calmly explaining why the protocol is bad for NI and has to go. McDonnell blethered on about how the protocol was useful in getting people focused towards a united ireland as always ignoring the fact that, even after Brexit, 65% of the people of NI don't want UI. Clearly nationalists (like Salmon) see the political opportunities to disrupt the union that the protocol presents. Which is why we will ensure the protocol is removed lock stock and barrel.

That wee body of water between north east of Ireland and the west coast of Scotland is the North Channel. British Territorial Waters patroled by HMRC and the British Navy. The Irish sea is to the south and there are Custom posts at Liverpool Holyhead Fishguard Pembroke and CarlingFord Dublin Rosslare. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
