Northern Loop Backpack - Mt Rainier National Park

In late September I took advantage of the unseasonably warm weather and backpacked the Northern Loop at Mount Rainier National Park. I tried my luck at a walk up permit and got the dates and camps I was hoping for (you can also reserve them in advance - link with permit information listed below) This was yet another great backpack with unseasonably warm weather, fall colors, and challenging terrain with plenty of elevation gain and loss. You know it's a good backpack when you want it to last longer. Almost makes we want to hike the Wonderland trail again (almost!)
Itinerary:
Day 1 - Sunrise to Lake James Camp
Day 2- Lake James Camp to Mystic Camp
Day 3 - Mystic Camp to Sunrise
Dates Hiked: September 30-October 2, 2022
(this was an unusually warm weather for this time of year. I would not plan for similar weather next year during this same timeframe)
