Northern Minnesota Walleye Fishing - Birch Lake

Great time fishing up in Northern Minnesota on Birch Lake. Beautiful lake and tons of walleye.
Methods: Trolling lead core cranks, slip bobber & leeches

That bear you saw swimming was pretty awesome, Seen a big black lone wolf on the shoreline but no Bear.

I caught a couple pike up there quite cool.

Awesome. We were hole hopping and I forgot to reel up my bobber line in the pop up, went back in to my pole bent in half and it was a decent size pike! They are fun to pull up

Have been going up here for Fishing Opener for the past 4-5 years - absolutely love it. The fishing has been up and down depending on when the ice is off and temps. Our cabin is in Kramer Bay just around the bend West of Timber Bay. Usually hit the spots by Eagle Nest Point, Deer Island, Blueberry Island, and Moose Point. Any other recommendations or tips for this coming weekend? With the warmer temps and later date for opener, we're all pretty excited!

I only fished the lake one time so my information is very limited for the lake. But this time of year find some shallow sand flats or rock to sand transitions would be a good place to start

What color jigs were you using? Any glow?

Red and orange rapala was the ticket for trolling. For the bobber color didn’t really matter

Hey- Thinking of going to this lake at the end of June. Did you guys do any smallmouth fishing?

This is the first time we went up there and specifically targeted walleyes. With the rocks and sand points I’m sure there are smallies in there. Beautiful lake we camped at Mattilas Birch Lake Resort very very very good pricing and boat launch
