Northern Pickets Traverse

For over 18 years I've been dreaming of making a trip into the Pickets. I spent many long days in the mountains honing my skills and building my fitness. Finally things lined up to where I did the Northern Pickets Traverse in July of 2023 with Alden Ryno. Thanks to Kaytlyn Gerbin and Steve Gnam for giving me beta on the route. Gorgeous country.

Outstanding video, Mark. Great narration, too, explaining where you were and some of your thoughts and feelings along the way. It reminded me of my trips through the Bailey Range of Olympic NP, but just a bit wilder! Thanks for sharing!

This is a truly amazing video the views and the narration were superb. Possibly the best video on KZbin showcasing what the North Cascades are truly like. This really gets me excited for the summer. I hope to see the pickets one day myself!

Thanks Nolan - lots of great photographers out in the Pickets but not a lot of videos - though checkout the High Route on the Northface’s channel - some amazing footage there of an amazing traverse. The Pickets are wild but amazing.

Way to go. If you go back, climb Fury and Challenger. Great routes and nothing over 5.5. Gotta love the Pickets - blood, sweat, and bees.

Loved every minute of this. The parts with Ross lake reminded me of the memorable times we had there as a family. Such a beautiful area. Love it. Keep making videos. It allows us to go along with you and see the beauty of areas we might never get to.

Dude such a cool route! The Pickets look out of this world, very well captured here. I hope to summit something in there eventually, this route was seriously ambitious and I’m so glad you guys pulled it off. I’m sure that last mile off Ross lake was terrible 😂

Thanks - it was epic to be sure - and yeah while that last mile was no "fun" - better the swampy bushwhacking! And I knew food was at the end of the mile.
