Great footage. Great day of fishing too. My boss once had a lake trout stolen off his line by a Bald Eagle and I've always wished i could of seen that. This video is the next best thing.

This is why, if you're fishing for walleye, but you catch a good-sized Northern pike, string it up and then wait for the walleye to back.

When I was a child an old neighbor took me fishing at Fort Peck lake near Winnett MT, we put in a setline at night . When I pulled it in, in the morning there was a huge northern, near 30lbs on one of the hooks. When I got it on the bank a 3.5 lb walleye came out of his mouth. The northern was not actually hooked he just wouldn't let go of the walleye, so we ended up with both.

Wow! I can hear that walleye now when he gets back to his buddies - *"You're not gonna believe what just happened to me....."* lol
@eddiep28992 жыл бұрын
I've seen that so many times in Manitoba. Reed Lake on into Morton Lake - via land portage - and then another shortage portage into another lake. We've even seen very large walleye with a smaller walleye in their mouths or throats... and ONE huge walleye even had a small northern in its mouth.
@MrRedtubelover13 жыл бұрын
At first I thought that was a 25 pound pike. Then I saw the walleye he grabbed was less than 10 inches long :(

The pike wasn't even hooked, he was just trying to eat the walleye! Awesome vid!

At least you got the hook out before the pike ate it. Too many people are under the misconception that it’ll rust out when in fact it could get hooked up in the fish months.

Been living in Wisconsin 33 years. We got a cabin up by Iron Mountain Michigan. Nice N pikes up there in Brule River and Pine River. My biggest Northern Pike I caught was a 32 inch at Beaver Dam . I wanted to keep it to mount but at the time ya couldn't. It did take a bit off my thumb and made blood splatter all over. Them suckers got some super sharp teeth. I hate to have one nip on my foot/toe. The Midwest is truly a beautiful place as far as the outdoors and it's wild life.

When I was a kid in the 70’s I remember my dad and I fishing. He caught a bass and a good size and was really excited. He was reeling it in and it was boatside. I was getting ready to net it, and a pike came by and bit it into 2. The pike snagged the body and was gone. All my dad had left was the head. He was so mad. All I remember him saying is that fish head cost $250. I found out later that was the cost of our cottage for the week.

I don't know about you guys but I wouldn't let the pike swallow the walleye with the hook in his mouth, you're going to kill both fish. You should have grabbed the pike by the tail to separate them or used the net. I fly fish for atlantic salmon and other species in a canoe. The thing isn't gonna tip bringing that little pike in the boat.I'm not trying to be a dick but if you don't eat it, try to ensure it lives.
