@@josepherhardt164 It's just hard to maneuver big trucks to get to the big lift, so people are suggesting he swap the two. But distances are deceiving on video so a truck in thenother spot may block the way for the other lift. I don't know, just letting you know why people are saying this.

I am a 2/10 when it comes to auto mechanicing, just oil changes and other small jobs over the years. Yesterday, after mowing the leaves with my little Cub Cadet riding mower, I noticed oil sprayed all over the place. So, today I bought my first two cans of brake cleaner -- ever. Emptying that first can made me feel like a real mechanic, the same way my first cowboy hat and six shooter made me feel like a real gunslinger. But, and here is the important part, it was exactly what I needed to be able to identify where it was leaking (the filter had loosened from vibrations) and I would not have known to do that had I not watched Ray's videos. Thanks Ray. Your videos are changing lives.😀

Congrats on getting that first job in. I also think you should swap the positions of the two lifts. The big vehicles can go straight in and the small vehicles can more easily get around the corner to the lesser used lift. (Or you could put another big one in place of the small one, but you probably need a few more customers first.) After that test drive, I now know exactly where your shop is. :) When you are ready to attract customers, you are going to need some signs to help people find you.

Watching these videos, KZbin doesn't suggest them in chronological order, so I get some at the beginning of the new shop, in the middle, and currently. He quit and leased a one bay shop in a industrial park, within a year he leased the the space next to his and removed the wall separating the two. I think he was there another year and leased a legit shop with 3 bays and was killing it. Within 2-2 1/2 years he was looking for property to build a shop, well with property being so expensive and the hoops/ building codes/ epa requirements he was looking at around close to million bucks. Finally a old Goodyear Service enter came up for sale it was a 4 bay shop and he bought it and the owner also owned the closed down car wash next door. He bought both of them. The car wash was fenced in so that is storage lot. He was scared to death when he pulled the trigger on the purchase. He now is rolling big time! You pretty much have to make a appointment if you need service because the business stays swamped! He is a damn good mechanic and not one of these Code Readers! Hang in man! Good Truth mechanics are slim and none these brother!

A recommended mechanic services my car, it's a little Smart car and this guy knows a lot about them. He is so good that his service book is over flowing with work. I recently went to see him with the cars exhaust having failed. He looked me in the eye woefully and said he had too much on but I begged him to keep the car until he could fix. Three days later it was all up and running and he is on a par with Ray when it comes to looking after not just his customers but also the quality of the work. Yes Russ Fenner you know it is you, watching Ray reminds me of Russ all the time, he even had his new lease turned down and had to start from scratch at another place, just like you Ray. Just keep up the good work, treat your customers right and like Russ, you will have such a thick service book you will have to employ other mechanics too. 😂

I was doing a similar brake job on my 20 year old rusty Toyota Boston Ma.when my phone 📞 buzzed with a notification of this video, synchronicity.replaced a seized caliper and used an old used rotor. I did the same, grinding the pad tabs so they float.More Brake-Klean!

I liked how you taught me to put the rotors on backwards to spray them with brake clean and then flip them and spray the front, I guess you must have sprayed them off camera although I'm commenting before the video is over. Also, if you're missing your usual steps to make my wife say, "quit talking to someone who can't hear you!" great job!

Takes a little time to get your rhythm back, but new shop, new tool placement, new responsibility for stocks, dealing with customers face to face . All those small things, but your went from no job to your own shop and first customer in about 3 weeks? That's freaken amazing in my book any day. In less than a year you will need help with overbooking. Thats my prediction anyway.

HEY! Customer number 1. How do you like the rust belt Ray? Pa uses too much salt too, but that wheel was easy compared to some I`ve seen here in Pa. I`ve had to hit the backs of the tires with a 3lb maul to release the rims from the rust jacking up the rims, then whizzy wheel(Eric O reference) the mating surfaces. . Shiny! Those caliper bolts came out easy, I usually have to soak em with PB Blaster and pray they come out with my 18" breaker bar and a 4 ft pipe(for leverage). if not, break out the hot wrench and heat them up. That customer got his money out of those pads...sketchy. At least the hardware still looks like hardware, not a disintegrating blob😁 Congrats on customer #1, 1st of many.
