Northern Thailand Golden Triangle Adventure Ride

Todays video is Part #1 of a 5 day and 4 night adventure ride to Northern Thailand and the Golden Triangle. Along the way we will be documenting our adventures as we go and any thing that pops up unusual along the way. Of course we have certain stops we will be making to share some of the treasures that exist in Thailand. @@TeamDNFracing Thanks! The editing will be a bitch with multiple cameras in action, but worth it. My earlier videos had 4 cameras.. one on my chest, one on a tripod, one for underwater shots and one on the quadcopter for overhead shots. I gradually evolved to just using a single camera and took it off my chest and put it on the tripod when needed, and rarely use the quadcopter or the underwater camera. Then at least all the clips are already in already in time order.

Not sure which hotel we stayed in each night, but the only one I didn't like was the first one. I believe the one you are talking about was the one Robert called the biker hotel. That was my favorite one and her son is running it while she takes a vacation. Great place to stay....

Robert is going on his Honda CRF 250 and I'll be on my Yamaha XSR 155. Woke up to rain this morning, not the way I wanted to start the trip, but it is letting off and is heading out of our planned travel. We'll be taking it easy this morning.....

@@TheExistentialVegan Just got back from the ride today and my posterior end is a bit tender, butt I'm okay. The mileage really wasn't the hard part, the hard part was the constant rain in the mountains and we road a lot of mountain roads. Some ver twisty and steep mountain roads and with the moisture we had, they became extremely slick. Lucky for us, the only fall we had was when I slipped on a sidewalk to look at one of the sights we stopped to see. Landed right on my backside, luckily I was still wearing my body armor and I didn't get hurt at all.... Hats off to Troy Lee Design body armor, it did what it was supposed to do... There is going to be five videos showing the five days of riding, we clocked 1,039.7 Kilometers from my house and back to my house.... Loads of fun, my Yamaha handled the entire trip flawlessly but now it is really dirty, wash time tomorrow.....

Every time I see one of your videos I think to myself I would love a month or more there. Is it a good idea for a 46 year old man to make that kind of change? Looks like a great place to live a simple life.

Smartest thing I ever did in my life was to make the move to Thailand. Caution though, I was 59 and my financial decision to retire three years before turning 62 was solely based on the amount of money I had set aside to live on once I retired. I had made like five trips here before making the move for good. During those trips, I was able to reasonably asses what it would take to live here each month and what it would take to set myself up to live off my SS once it would take effect three years after I retired. A lot of soul searching went into this and once I thought I could do it with a six months leeway to where I wouldn't go broke doing it. I made the plunge and retired. I don't regret it a bit, but for three years I did have to very cautiously manage my affairs before my SS kicked in, which by the way was not immediately after turning 62, it took several months for them to start paying my SS checks... Don't know why, but you better have your Senators home phone numbers before that day comes.... Between my Thai wife and I, we managed to build a very nice property to live in and a life style we both enjoy. All I can say, is you better have a sound financial base before making the move. Once you have that, I can't think of a better place to spend the rest of your life than in Thailand.... Like I said, best thing I ever did for myself, was to make the move of a lifetime.... I don't regret it.....

@@wantblackwolf One more thing, if and when you come for a visit, don't go to Bangkok looking for a place to retire, it's just another very large city in the world with the exact same problems with any other large city in the world. The seaside resort towns are pretty neat, but then again so is the seaside resort towns on the US coasts. Get out of Bangkok, spend very little time in Pattaya go see Krabi and stay in a nice resort hotel there. Hire a travel guide and tell them you want to experience the Thailand that most tourist never get to see. I live 20 Kilometers North of Chiang Mai, close enough to have everything I need in a fairly big city, yet far enough away that I don't have the big city closing in on me. When I vacation, it is to a place like Krabi, but I wouldn't want to live there, if you know what I mean. There are so many great things and places to see, if you just get off the beaten path.... Enjoy your trip to Thailand and make sure you let me know how it goes....
