What a cinematic experience you've put us through with this episode NL. Not upgrading Wraith Form until the very last opportunity when I thought it was a vital upgrade the whole run; only for it to not be used during the final boss. This was a very solid run that I enjoyed watching. The tension was real throughout the last couple floors.

I am [Reborn], eh? NL about to ram Tokyo Tower into a stage. I understand. TL;DR: Tactics 7/10, Strategy 8/10. Honestly, a fairly well thought out Ascension 17 plan despite NL kind of floundering with the very concept of a non-linear deck. Good job. > Let this be an example - get some early damage cards, get some burst mitigation, get some scaling powers. A simple, effective, and most importantly flexible methodology. > While the 3 escape plans were helpful, NL unnecessarily compromised his Chosen matchup, which could have went terribly with the 2 Chosens he faced without artifact. Time Eater as well could have been very problematic, although 2 Footworks does a very good job against him. > The restraint is fine on Ascension 17, where bosses aren't really that hard. On ascension 19 I'd like to see some late act Elite fights, especially with a Wraith Form and a Glass Knife. It does mean taking more damage cards (for Silent, stuff like Terrors, Deadly Poisons, Corpse Explosion if you can swing one, etc etc), but I think that's a good idea in general. > Slow down, break the habits. NL tends to identify several plays, but then only choose between one of those plays or doing nothing, which leads to a lot of 1/3 moments. > Piercing Wail needs to be taken more - it's a ridiculously good common for what it does. Also, most 5 energy decks want every draw card they can get. Act 1: - I don't think that Burst is that good early, but it scales like a monster. - Definitely agree with that advice. Attacks especially, or damage cards. - I think pretty much any deck can use a Backstab, especially on floor 1. - Predator is really good against Lagavulin and Sentries and good against Nob too. It's a great floor one card. - Burst upgrade is pretty much irrelevant on floor one, since you really can't feed the second spell with much. You're technically doubling the power, but in practice you're copying the third best skill in your hand and that's usually going to be pretty bad until later. - Definitely would take that Poisoned Stab - the deck is far too reliant on exhausting sources of damage. - Resting definitely in order here. - If this were Ascension 18, NL would have died for sure. As it is, though, he scrapes out with 17 health. This hopefully will serve as a wakeup call for more damage, and hey Glass Knife fits that bill. - Glass Knife upgrade is absurd, especially against Slime Boss. - Hand of Greed is a Predator++, and it gives a lot of gold if you play around it with a Well Laid Plans. - Wraith Form is incredibly busted. It is also one of the highest skill cards to use, though. Coffee Dripper is risky, but NL absolutely needs the energy, has Wraith Form support, and can technically heal with Singing Bowl. Act 2: - Escape Plan doesn't draw any cards at all in total. It merely replaces itself - you'd have drawn what you would have normally, just with an extra Skill played. Also, Sucker Punch+ is much better. Admittedly, it works with Burst, but still. - I'd discard the Energy Potion over the Speed Potion. Looks like NL forgot about the Artifact + Speed combo again, which doesn't surprise me but disappoints me slightly. - Chosen + Byrds, no Artifact. At least he calls himself out on it. - Wraith Form upgrade is huge for the Automaton - it stretches over 2 attacks, not just one. Also, Well-Laid Plans upgrade is good to hold both Hand of Greed and Wraith Form. - The Poison from Burst + Crippling Cloud really isn't that relevant, and adding 5 dazes in one turn is horrific. Almost wish he died just to punish him for the greedy 3 Escape Plan takes. - The Escape Plan upgrade here is just tilt. In no world is that better than having 3 Intangibility against the Automaton. NL's chances are actually very good against this guy with +6 dex and Wraith Form and Fairy in a Bottle! - The overly discretized portion of NL's brain is kicking in again: block OR attack OR play Crippling Cloud, ignoring the block AND attack play and ending his turn with 1 energy. Also, I'd use Wraith Form before taking the Potion hit - the Dex isn't lost that quickly. - With 3 Escape Plans and a Burst, After Image is extremely good. Also, 5 energy means that NL really wants draw. Act 3: - NL has bites; he should just farm the Darklings. - Wraith Form isn't a death sentence after it wears off. NL has +6 Dex; more than enough time to still be mostly fine on the block scale. - NL should have played Wraith Form on the 17 damage turn. Remember, you have 3 turns to kill the enemies, not just 2 - when the intangibility wears off, it's your turn first. - Pick Acrobatics, you fool. You have 5 energy and not a whole lot to use it with... - Not exactly Fields Medal level performance here. I appreciate that he's doing a relatively nonstandard build for NL, though. - You can't trust ? for shops, unfortunately. - Hand of Greed is a great card, honestly. It's too bad it's so expensive and rare. - Against Awakened One, "Block more than he can attack for" is an extremely viable strategy. The 1 curiosity is really not a huge deal, as you can see.

I gotta say I agree for the most part but Escape Plan is a fantastic card as long as you don't low roll time keeper. It's literally free draw with potential upside, that was super consistent in his deck with high skill percentage and the burst is very powerful synergy. I mean you can see that it straight up wins him the run, by giving him shit tons of block. Other than that though, yeah it's physically painful to watch him sit there with energy left and cards to play and taking dumb damage.

Pretty much any card is better than a basic Strike or Defend. If there is a situation in which you might remove them, but have the option to transform them, then transform them. Unless you're literally trying to go for a 2 card deck or something like that. To my knowledge only curses transform into other curses. (I suppose unless it's transforming all of them and they're literally the only block or the only damage you decide to keep the entire run)
