What the actual fuck. He had infinite money and restock on Depths II and could have easily gotten the missing poster if he thought about it for two seconds. This was his best chance by far of getting it done and he threw it away for no reason. He's never been great with the details in this game but he's definitely gotten worse, I've been rewatching old episodes and he used to actually think about what he was doing and at least tried to make smart and sensible plays. NL has fucking shat the bed with this game recently.

Ok, I've seen a lot of people who don't understand how aging wine and spirits work. Here is the crash course. Alcohol aged in barrels is done so to gain the flavor of the wood it's in. This is done in places with strong seasonal temperature/humidity variants, because those variations forces the alcohol into and out of the wood. the more times this process is repeated (the longer it ages), the more complex the flavor. However this process has a high level of evaporation (often called the angel's share, or devil's cut) where a portion of the liquid is permanently lost. Thus the longer it is aged, the higher the value of the alcohol, but the less actual alcohol you have to sell. That is why you never really see anything aged more than 20-30 years, because there isn't enough left to sell to really make back your investment. For example I remember hearing about a guy trying to make a 50 year old whiskey, where from a 53 gallon barrel he only ended up selling about 40 bottles, that's about 8 gallons of alcohol by the end of the process.
