"Got the Hedjet, no idea what it does" Since you've already used it, I don't really consider this spoiling, but still SPOILER: Without the Hedjet, you can't open the door to the City of Gold, even with Anubis's scepter. It may do more than that, but that's the first thing it definitely does.

If you're low on bombs, maybe you're supposed to take corpses (like of the Sorceress) and sacrifice them there, and she'll supply you with bombs every time? After all, there was a Bomb Bag already on it when you arrived there; maybe something died on it and was auto-sacrificed.

7:04 Now I doubt that by the time this is out NL will still have time to be reading comments, but for the chance it'll help someone else: i found out recently that if you hang from the ledge while holding something, and press down+throw, you'll throw it at much steeper angle, almost 90 degrees. It's very useful with skulls and pots, that may shatter on the opposite wall if you throw them by just crouching Edit: also good for situations like at 28:30

Ryan, I gotta tell ya that you should try your best in the Jungle to locate the 3 sisters/children of the forest. You get a whole bomb box if you find them all! Otherwise, you get ropes for 1 and a bag for two. Their secondary door is never the one that has the pushable block and a 3 character high jump. Oh uh btw, you can't bring anything into the Underworld/Duat. Like, nothing you hold like weapons and such anyway. You sac yourself remember? D: And the last thing is that the door to get you to that guy in the Olmec stage is located by the one block that's not standard Olmec tiling on the 1st level.

The thing is he DOES realize. He's even commented on it before that he keeps doing it if he already has a cape because he doesn't think about how he has to take the extra step to put it on instead of the cape in that instance. NL, the door was where the green block is in the olmec area, that green block is always in that spot so it really stands out.

the worst thing about that play was that he couldn't take the shotgun to duat he played the first Spelunky, he knew that when you use the ankh you don't take items and I think he used the scepter on the door was because he still hadn't decided to go get the shotgun

That's why i prefer the Tide Pool route. You can just pick your items back up after dying. Having that sweet jetpack/cape to get through the Ice Caves is so good.

NL you haven't studied ancient Egyptian mythology, have you? The Duat, Osiris being the pharaoh of it, and Apep destroying everything are all pretty common to a lot of those myths. Edit: Apep is the snake, they're also the one that fought Ra and many other Egyptian gods when the sun set every day, which was depicted as the sun descending into the Duat.

Back in my day you used to have to learn the exact location of a game in typed format in order to access it.. Ahh the good old days of DOS... ( Keep in mind I was really little at the time so :P .. My brother used to know how to Code in the old school way.. learned a bit from him.. and also learned more from one of his friends with a more advanced version of coding when I was a teen.. He knew more but he was also a nerd while my brother was one of those odd jocks who was also into nerdy kind of stuff.. Was not common back then at all. Co-Captain of the varsity team.. Nicknamed him Crash the Dwarf XD .. He uhh.. Was not the tallest player but he hit far harder than anyone else.. Even had a pro say that on TV... Sadly that stuff kinda.. messed him over in the long run.. He has had 2 total knee replacements.. 7 surgeries on that leg and a few on the other.. and that is small compared to other injuries hes had.. )

Super late, but you can't clone the Scepter "legitimately". You get the Clone Gun in the Tide Pool. You get the Scepter in The Temple. And you can only go to either The Temple or Tide Pool. So there's no situation in game where you can have both the Clone Gun and Scepter.
