i'd like to just compliment the colour design on the suits of the cards in this game. the in-between full red+black and full black+red+green+orange is gorgeous while staying subtle. the hues are just distant enough from each other that they are easily distinguishable, but close enough they don't cause confusion in people familiar with the traditional colourings. it's a masterstroke in card design and i wish i had a physical deck like it.

​@@alechardcastle5247 He got the Obelisk at the 4th Blind, there's 15 Blinds not including final boss so he had 11 blinds to go, 44 hands if you're really trying to maximize by playing shit hands and stacking. He got Hack and Fibo in the same Buffoon pack so he was set for the next couple blinds when you're tanking your hands to stack. I think he could've stopped playing high cards once it got to 6, you still have realistically 20ish hands to stack Obelisk as long as you're managing hands. By the time he died it would've probably been at 3.0X-ish, which would've definitely helped.

How would someone actually use the obelisk joker? You have to use a hand you’ve used less than the one you’ve done the most until it’s equal to the one you’ve done the most, but eventually you can’t do that any more because they’ll all be equal or you’ll be playing high cards 6 hands in a row and not have anything work except obelisk. I feel like I’m missing something but it doesn’t seem like a long term strategy

@@shanedancer3895 So, there's a finite number of hands you'll play over a game. Basically, you just play High Cards (or Pairs) for the first third of the game, about, then you pivot to a different hand and never go back to the first. Since High Card is a low scoring hand (generally), you need to play them more than the advanced ones. So if you beat 8 blinds with high cards, you probably used something like ~8*3=24 hands of High Card, meaning you can now pivot to Flush/Straight/Full House/whatever your deck and jokers are geared towards and you have 23 alternative hands to play before resetting your Obelisk mult. Since your new hand is going to score much higher, those 23 hands should last a lot longer than the 8 blinds you initially invested and should clear the game for you.

In Magic, they call that a "Spike to Johnny" pivot, as Wizards thinks of the player base as consisting of formerly 3 (now 5ish) archetype players: Spike, who wants to win/play optimally and efficiently; Johnny, who sees a fun (at least to them) combo, and wants to pull it off; and Timmy, who likes slapping down big effects, even if they aren't good. Though, as a Johnny myself, I will say that a 3 minute spiel because someone noted that straights get a higher bonus per level is insanity.

Ryan, why aren't you highlighting a couple cards and shuffling back and forth to get a ballpark when your hand is hidden? For example, even if your entire hand is hidden like in the first run, you pick a couple cards and shift from suit to rank. The cards will still get sorted, and you end up with the cards moving around the hand accordingly. At that point, you just make a mental note of the patterns that come up and you get a pretty darn good idea of what kind of card ranges you have. Editing for more info: this works even better when you got some shown cards in the hand. It can give you information on both available suits and available ranks.

The Wizard of Legend rant is exactly the reason why the Civilization dev quote exists: If given the opportunity, a player will optimize the fun out of the game. It is 100% the dev’s duty to make it so that CANT happen as much as possible. All Wizard of Legend needed to do was make it so that all starts were randomized. The whole unlocking things to take into the runs is what killed the game because you have to go against human nature and instinct in order to continue having fun with it. I understand “we did it to ourselves” but there was no alternative option. Take the best start every time and think, “this game is too boring and easy.” Don’t take the best start every time and you lose? Your human instinct kicks in and tells you that it’s your fault for not choosing the best start in order to give yourself the best odds of winning. That’s just a part of the human condition. We’re coded to use our brains to plan things in advance to maximize/optimize our chances of a positive outcome.

Is leveling up a single hand maybe the best way to win? I got shit jokers but leveled up two pairs to level 12. One joker was getting money for each hand, another joker was for a straight, which i literally never did. I didn't get jokers that were benefiting in any way so I never replaced them, but I didn't need to. That said, I did have the Banana not spoiling on me through 10+ blinds and got the pants joker to +40 at the end.

Maybe, because I do win most easily focusing on one hand. BUT I just won with an insanely powerful build that used the obelisk and raised fist. Instead of building up high card like NL I just kept things varied and didn't worry about it. I also gave myself a bunch of face cards like 8 queens. If I wanted to dump a 7 high card then I still got like 8k points because raised fist gives double mult equal to the lowest card in your hand, which for me was usually a face card. While my flush builds are decent and will often win in the end, this build got double the amount of points i needed on the first turn of the final boss.

Your build could consistently work with early pants but the easiest win imo is just stacking mult multipliers. Unless you're really unlucky, you're bound to find a Throwback/Brainstorm/Hologram/Obelisk and they can carry even with just a couple Mult generator. In NL's case he his first run is such a crazy lucky seed because he had 2 of the mult multipliers. if he had just used Obelisk better he'd be winning blinds with a mere pair lol

That's when I learned it starts stacking only when you have it, because I got a 1x multipler with a 63 cards deck where I also destroyed, I think, 4 cards. In fact, I believe I saw the obelisk exactly once Also I won a run with the joker that gives x mult for uncommon jokers and I had brainstorm as well. Coupled with 4 uncommon jokers because one of them was negative. Thanks to doubling a mega Buffon booster three times Anaglyphic deck is the best
