Gorgeous gardens! TFS. My husband is a cotton farmer in west Texas. You definitely do NOT want to stop watering when your cotton blooms. That is when it needs it the most. It will pitch off blooms and squares (what the cotton forms from) without water during this critical time. ~ Betty

Great garden, so many plants for a small lot, nice work, thanks for the tour. Just riding out the end of winter here in zone 4, started a couple plants and have a bunch to start next week and then again for the next 2 months. Then hopefully all the snow and ice will be gone and like you say I'll be "digging in the dirt". This is all I do now, watch garden vids....end of winter is so depressing and this pandemic doesn't help but your tour has.

I am so amazed and inspired by your 1/2 acre. I am going crazy trying to write down so many of the flowers you mentioned. I am in 5b I believe in western MA. I rely on a wonderful woman and her greenhouse on a farm up the street for so many of my flowers. I wish I could share some photos, but I will be taking so many of your ideas. I have about 8 acres. I am no where near your beautifully manicured gardens. Mine are much more "natural" like your front yard. I subscribed and will be catching up and re watching so i can write stuff down. I have begun to grow cut flowers just for work and neighbors and fun, but I would love to have a flower farm someday. Thank you

I would love to see a video sometime of your flower stand selection with examples of your bouquets! I just planted some Lupine today. (A little late but it was so dry all the month of June for us in Saratoga County, NY.) We are getting really great rain this week, so I decided to plant today. We had a maple tree that we had to take down years ago, and the soil is amazing. I dug up all the poison sumac trees that were growing and created a really pretty circular bed. I hope they come up! I've never planted mixed Lupine. I love seeing what you have going on!

Hi, I love your garden! It’s full of wonderful gems. May I ask where you buy your Chianti sunflower seeds from?

Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for this i needed this today to take my mind off of things going on in this crazy world! We both have alot of Hydrengeas i love them too! Yes Japanese beetles are here just noticed them on my roses and hollyhocks this week! I had to break out seven dust, its the only things that works for me. Im also growing those burgandy sunflowers this year, mine havent bloomed yet but have buds on them, i love burgandy in the garden! I have a question for you i have 2 Annabelle Hydrangeas they are planted under a dog wood tree and are shaded by a row of trees dividing mine and my neighbors yard. This is thier 3rd year here and they have thier clusters of blooms on them but only a few flowers are blooming on each cluster.. if that makes since and they have been like that for a few weeks now. Do you think they need to be in full sun or should I leave them alone?

Hey Trav! So they have full flower heads - but the flower clusters are not opening as they had in the past? Is it that each flower in the cluster is present, but not open and staying in tight bud? Or it lacks bloom heads all together? Thanks!

Are your hydrangeas in partial shade? Can you grow them in afternoon sun?

Hi Sue! The ones that do best in afternoon sun are the panicle hydrangeas (Limelight, QuickFire, Pinky Winky, etc) and Smooth Hydrangeas (Annabelle, Invincibelle Spirit). My big leaf, mountain, and oakleaf hydrangeas tend to prefer morning sun and afternoon shade.
