How lucky you are to be born into this passion and profession! Im starting on my own mind you my grandparents and mom were gardeners but only food crop and companion plants. Your vids on sweet peas have taken my first year of them to pro levels. I grow them hard and they literally germ with multiple branches and if they damp i leave them alone and they sprout another healthy branch! All due to what ive learned from you! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤thank you good ma'am!

I notice what looks like a Tricolor Beech. They get quite tall and wide! I hope it doesn't encroach onto the driveway. I am in love with the Madame Butterfly snapdragons after seeing them here. I adore peach flowers. I only see the clear yellow or pink ones for the most part in nurseries. I had my eye on a Winecraft Gold Smoke Tree this spring, and seeing yours makes me wish I had bought it. I need a shrub to replace my Diablo Ninebark, which has sadly developed such a stubborn case of powdery mildew in the past few years.

Your garden is very ambitious, and amazing. It takes a lot of planning and dedication to build what you have grown. I know you have a small space, but you truely make the sapce a place a person could go any time of the day, any season, and get lost in the beauty. Especially if you are a gardener, even the dormancy of winter would send my mind to imagining what is to come. Congratulations, the result is impressive. I can tell you enjoy your garden, I am happy you shared it with us.

I love to look into your garden. I started my cutting garden this yr. Like yours , i decided to work it into the landscape. I think that when you have only an acre of ground it just looks sooo much better to grow flowers to beautify the property. I also have some raised beds, but I am getting away from that look. Your garden gives me ideas of what to plant next to certain other plants. I am always amazed. Thanks again for the tour.

I have rose campion in 6b and it resends prolifically. I have also cut back the stems to the ground and moved the plants and they flowered of the original plant the following year. They pull out easily if they get out of control or pop up where you don’t want them. I love them because the deer hate them, they have bright color that last a long time.

Rose Campion is hardy in zones 4-8 and comes back both from seeds and the plant itself. I have tons of it in my garden that I just let roam. I have the white one too which I added a couple years ago. It is such a tough customer that it grows wild along our roadsides here in the mountains of N. California. I deadhead mine for longer bloom time and then let it go to seed closer to Fall. Hope this helps.

I have lots of Rose Campion (in zone 8) and it comes back from the ground and self seeds. It’s almost weed status for me and the ground level weeds are evergreen through the winter where I live. I do love how well it performs in part shade!

I received some rose campion from a friend last year, and didn’t know what it was until now! I only have .25 acre lot, so your garden is such and inspiration for me, Danielle! I can’t wait to add in hydrangeas and other shrubs, as well as honing my cut flower crops mixed into the landscape like you do 💚
@DixieGirl98763 жыл бұрын
Lovely as always! I have rose campion all over (it's been in my garden 7b for a couple of decades), it blooms on it's second years growth then sets seeds and dies. I collect seeds (or let them fall in place naturally) when the plant is brown and the seed pods have a small opening in the center, I usually just scatter the seeds when I want them to grow. It will grow and bloom in shady areas but, it does it's best in full sun, it can also grow in rocky soil but again, does it's best in better soil. I even grow some in pots. Checkout the button bush, it's blooms bring to mind tiny white fireworks, might be something different to add in arrangements.

Wonderful relaxing tour Danielle - and the garden looks beautiful. You're right that it needn't cost much to start a garden. Mine has been started by direct sowing seeds this past autumn. The only things I spent a bit more on were my spring bulbs and five bare-root roses. I'm about to start my snapdragon seeds in trays for our NZ spring - I don't have lights so they'll go on the windowsills. I can't wait to see your gladioli's in bloom. They will be stunning! Take care.

Thank you for for the tour and sharing you beautiful garden. I always appreciate your information and love to get inspiration and ideas for my garden from you. I am in zone 6a (MA) and Rose Campion self seeds everywhere in my garden. Somehow, I have white plants and hot pink plants, and sometimes they even come up as a mixture of the 2 (light pink.) They are so prolific that I have to pull them as weeds!
@lisafeck15372 жыл бұрын
When I lived in Kentucky, I had the same issue with all my rudbekia, pathways, sidewalk, they came up everywhere, and preformed so beautifully for so long, probably bc they naturally planted themselves at the perfect time. I do hope to try rose campion again. I recieved seeds from a fellow master gardener about 5 years ago, to start for a plant sale, I was unsuccessful. The seeds were from Monticello Virginia, I grew up in Va, have fond memories of school and family trips there.

Everything looks great. So productive! Thanks for the idea about a fall planting of snapdragons. I think I will try that. We get a lot of rain in the winter though so it will definitely be an experiment to see if they can winter over. Not so worried about the small amount of snow we get but mostly wondering if they can take the rain. I'll give them really good drainage and just give it a try!

My rose campion seeds itself! I had a huge blooming one year - it was a large full plant with more stalks than I could count, and the next year I had tiny mini ones coming up EVERYWHERE. They were cute and fuzzy and grew FAST. (They were also easy to pluck in the areas I did NOT want them to be.) So I would assume that as long as you have blooming occurring, you'll have babies next year. :-D

My sister lives in my grandmother's home now and she just gave me some rose campion plants from the garden! I would like to know how it grows back as well because it's very special. My rose campeon(sp?) was a prolific self sower…to the point of invading the grass. I ripped it out, but I just saw a beautiful use of it; sprinkling the seed over white daisies so the bright pink grows out the stark white…it made a beautiful contrast and now I have to get some.
@NorthlawnFlowerFarmandGardens3 жыл бұрын
What a fabulous idea!! Thank you for sharing that!

To answer your question about rose campion, it is at least a biennial, but I think it may sometimes come back a third year, but never more. Mine reseed from year to year and I just pull out what I don't want. So when I give the plants away, I always make sure it's not blooming and is just the first-year rosette so it will survive at least one more year. I started the white (alba) campion last summer and it overwintered and is blooming for me this year. Zone 7B, north MS.
