Alex, great channel. One almost forgets how miniscule these components are because you make it look so easy. I'm sure that is because of the years of practice you have doing these repairs and building up a knowledge base of likely faults and what to concentrate on without going down rabbit holes! One thing that may be of interest to the viewers is the techniques that Big Boss uses to get into the devices in the first place so that you can get access to the circuit board for repair AND how he puts them back together again "Just like factory". Maybe a couple of videos of that - if Big Boss isn't too camera shy? Once again, great channel, keep up the good work. Alistair

After my ipad went for repair coz it won't power on. I started watching ur videos and became more interested in understanding the reason for device failures. Why do iPads always have some problem or other, mostly power on issues. I am disappointed at motherboard quality. Today the technician called and said the processor had shorted in iPad 6th gen.

Very 8nteresting faultfinding! First you identify a problem area with the charger, which seems to check out, then ir camera and an inductor lit up. Inspecting the diode near it showed a short. Then inject voltage at the inductor or diode and another part lights up. One would expect the shorting capacitor to light up too when normally powered, right? Another job well done!

This probably has been asked a million times before, but how do you determine the replacement cap values?
@-eMpTy-2 жыл бұрын
You can measure capacitance with most multimeters (cap has to be desoldered). For the voltage, it doesn't really matter if you use one with a higher voltage rating, just shouldn't be lower. Other than that, just get X5R, these are the most commonly used ones.

Hi Engineer. How did you find out that this is a capacitor? You first had an EC connection. How did you suspect this area?
@TheThore2 жыл бұрын
If something is shorted to ground, like the diode, anything connected to it can also be the defective component. He injected voltage to the diode and looked under the thermal cam where a heatspot emerges. This was the area of the three caps. Then he applied iso pronanol onto the caps and injected voltage again, the cap where the alcohol is dried first, is the hottest cap, so at high possibility the defective cap. Nice way to track it down. Without thermal cam you have to test each cap.

Hi, I really like your videos and learned a lot about repairs and highly appreciate your videos. I have an apple Tablet that requires repair for wifi issue ( the chip was removed by some unprofessional technician and have damaged the some of the tracks on the motherboard as well as on wifi chip 😭) and now he broke the display also and replaced with another one but now only half display doesn't work for touch. I finally took back the tablet from him and decided to send it to you as i am confident and sure enough that you can make it up and running for me. I can't mail the device to you from India as it cost me very heavy , so one my friend is visiting USA by mid of March for limited period of time, and I am sending the device with him to you, but I am not sure how he be placed in USA so will you please please please help me and guide me how to reach you there and handover this apple tablet to you. Quick response is very highly appreciated. Thanks
