Views of DART trains exiting Downtown Dallas en route to Cityplace/Uptown Station on the Blue, Orange and Red lines, and Buckner station for the Green Line.
This is the entrance to the tunnel that leads to the only active subway station in the DART system, Cityplace/Uptown Station

From 1997 to 2007, between the tunnel entrance and Crockett Street, the tracks would wrap around a brick path and make three turns. I believe NYE 2008 was the day that the current track was constructed to make it easier for the Green Line.

I wish I could have been there to see the old setup before it was decommissioned... In another one of my videos, I featured this older "abandoned" platform you're talking about... It's hard to imagine why they didn't do it the current way in the first place!

Indeed, and even though I have a long history of riding DART, I only rode it twice - once in 2005, and once in 2007, when the old track was in service. I also wonder why the original platforms were not built to be level with the LRVs.

OPM1961 I remember this. It was a tight S shaped curved, where the brick is by the new tunnel entrance, that’s where it used to go. That’s back before they came out with the “C” low floor section in the middle of the LRV and it was only single articulating. I don’t think the current double articulating SLRV could even go around that bend, it was so tight

@@RajaRhodes There was one SLRV that operated beginning in 2002, LRV No. 170, so it could most likely go around; however, the middle section on that car was slightly updated to match the other SLRV additions c. 2008-2010.

Do you know if the switches to route the trains toward the tunnel or to the green line are controlled by a switchman? It seems like there’s enough traffic will all 4 lines converging that they would have to have a human controlling the switches like on the Chicago L Loop. Or is the whole junction automated? It seems like it would be by this day and age.

I'm fairly certain it's automated. From watching how it behaves it seems to run on some kind of schedule, and the signals leading into it from previous stations have flashing indicators for the train operators to see visually just to know it's working properly.

Thanks for the feedback, this is one of my earlier videos. I still have the white text, but it's now black outlined in my newer content and is much easier to read.
