Our last fall jaunt into the Bitterroot mountains before the snow hits. An area I've eyed for awhile, my previous bitterroot larch videos I've filmed this plateau/butte from a distance but now it's game time to get there!
One problem, we are both sick! Lacey more so! The video is sort of rushed and hap hazardly filmed, I wanted to document this for my memories but I wasn't feeling 100% to make it any decent. Doing off trail with an illness kinda sucks but it wasn't very far and we only got a small window to see these things (larches) at peak. No guarantee it will be possible "next time" either, weather can be fickle in late sept/early october!

Hope you feel better soon. Looks like it was worth it to head into the field despite not feeling well. Gorgeous concentration of larches just like a big glass of orange juice. Drink up, it will cure what ails ya!

Larch Heaven indeed! I've been wanting to do more in this area, I've been over bear creek pass, but now I need to see what lies beyond Lost Horse Pass! This time of year there might not be a "next-time", so you have to get out there when you can! I've hiked-off colds before when going into the backcountry, sounds like that didn't happen for you guys. Incredible views all the same!

Nice! You do a better job rushing through a video than most people do taking their time. I really liked your vista shots of the Selway~Bitterroot Wilderness. 1.2 million acres is nothing to sneeze at (no pun intended, sorry to hear you both were under the weather). I also liked seeing the Bush pilots cruising through, probably on their way to Moose Creek Ranger station and landing strip, like you said. I ran into a bunch of Outfitters in late August on Moose Creek trail and other trails outside of Elk Summit. They were all on horseback, clearing trails and doing final scouting for the fall hunt. The trails in that area were an absolute disaster with blowdowns, and these guys HAD to have clear trails to guide properly. I was intending to hike over to Maple Lake but it was so freakin' brushy that I missed the spur trail off the main trail over to the lake, just after crossing Maple Creek. Crazy! I know some of this is a repeat of a previous comment I made on another one of your videos. Thanks for posting and take care. Tom
