My concern with these spring type anti-wet sump valves on the feed side of the pump is that there will be no oil between valve and pump upon intitial startup and the expectation is the pump suction is going to be sufficient to pull the oil past the ball/spring. Based on testing shown in the following video, this is not the case: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4unnZyCiKiMd9k I've made my own manually turned valve with an electrical cut out switch to prevent startups unless the valve is fully opened, as in that video.

Like I said in the video, some people don't like or use these valves and that's your choice. The valves I use are different from the one in the video you referred to, I can only comment on parts I have first hand experience with. Yes an unprimed pump will not create the necessary suction but any Norton I have owned has not had a problem even with the engine not having been run in a long time. The ball valve is something I don't want to forget to turn on and yes I know you can add contacts but that too is one more thing to fail. By all means use whatever floats your boat. Thanks for watching.

Not the best solution. If the engine wet sumps in a fortnight get a new pump. If it wet sums in six months ride your bike more often. Best solution is a tap with a mag earth on it or s as kick start fouling tap handle.
