So this is why my father liked this motor cycle. He owned one. It was his pride and joy.

My father as well... I remember having to ride on the tank when I was young, then eventually being old enough to ride on the back

Just took me back 25 years!(same model, same year.... Same P/chain slap!). [my old man worked @Marston Rd. in the 60's] My favourite bike of many, thanks for the post.

Il roule bien le gars, malin et prudent pour doubler, et sa bécane envoie le pâté !👍

I often think Id like another one of these at the still young age of 65 but KZbin clips like this really settle that itch quite nicely. Thanks for the awesome virtual ride.

You should do it. After sitting in storage for 40 years, having my '72 commando back on the road this year has been an absolute blast, even for a 70 year old rider. I may not scrap pegs like I did when I was 18, but just putting around town on the ol' Snortin' Norton has been a treat. Added benefit: amazing how many young people have an appreciation for old English bikes these days.

Great to see and hear somebody on a Commando video 'opening the taps' a bit for a change ! - Great stuff, just goes to prove that any good Commando can still take it !..

Thanks, that took me back a few decades...started out in 1970 with a '69 Commando 'S', main ride in the '80s was a '73 Dunstall 850.

Great sound, beautiful course. But I don’t get why the rider is not downshifting properly before corners? He’s just coasting through and hardly having enough rpm left to get going.

Where was this video recorded? A very beautiful circuit!
@buryk2 жыл бұрын
It is Ecce Homo circuit in Czech rep. European hill climbing car race is held here and once a year in September we have rides with vintige cars and motorcycles which is called Ecce homo historic.

If your primary chain is slapping that is a sign of sloppy maintenance you can adjust the primary chain as part of everyday maintenance. Of course you can wait until it breaks and goes right through your cases but that's up to you.
@rickydee58632 жыл бұрын
I doubt the chain would break the caseings .those berman gearboxe castings were solid as .more likely you would lock up the chain. I threw a chain at 90 miles an hour on my honda 750 ripped the casting to shreads .lucky it did otherwise the back wheel would have locked up and at 90 mph anything could have happened.

Was this Commando stock or modified? Reving & pull past those other bikes very nicely!

Stock commando not upgraded. It was pre war BMW which was passed.

both the passed riders crossed the track from one side to other potentially running passing bike off road
@roadracingrelics3 ай бұрын
In any kind of "closed roads" event its the responsibility of the passing rider to make a safe pass. The passing rider here seems to know what he's doing.
@chhindz3 ай бұрын
@@roadracingrelics My comment came from hearing a Daytona vintage pre-race instruction where they said not to cross the entire track in one move and I could see the logic.
