I loved the way you explained Britta's work. The work was breathtaking and added to that, your explanation was simply beautiful. I could feel the pain of the Sami people when you said that they were made to feel ashamed of their culture because they were considered backward in need of being civilized by the government. This has happened in all colonized countries and it still happens around the world with countries being referred to as first world, third world etc.

I'm happy you enjoyed the trip to the art museum! Regarding the topic of oppression- As you say, similar things have happened and is still happening (sadly) in many countries. It is heartbreaking, especially when it comes to peoples who have long traditions of respecting and co-existing with nature. It is so sad when this knowledge dies out. I'm happy art is a space where I can expand my horizons about the world, and then share it on my channel.

I got emotional in the circular room, my heart hurts for the indigenous people who were mistreated and taught to be ashamed of their culture. @ashleigh_whatever You put it so well. We should be learning about other cultures, not destroying them. Unfortunately so many indigenous peoples around the world has experiences like the Sami people. What saddens me the most is that we could all learn so much especially about their relationship with nature. The Sami have a philosophy of only taking what they need from nature. I love this way of thinking. Anyway- I hope the future is better than the past. I find art is a great way to raise awareness.

The little house green and pink is super cute, green and pink always "work" well together and is pleasing for the eyes because green and red are complementary colours 😉 and pink is like a 'cousin' of red 💚💗 Happy weekend to you, Mr.J and Mochi!

I love Mr. and Mrs. Mouse tucked in their cigar box bed, which reminded me of Stuart Little's match-box bed. Miss Mochi is named after one of my favorite treats (I love Green Tea Mochi especially!). As you and Mochi went on your Sunday walk, I too enjoyed the colorful buildings, which have a lot of character. It's refreshing that Oslo, Bergen, etc. don't have glass and steel skyscrapers dominating the landscape as well as obscuring the view. They provided a nice contrast to the more modern buildings on your neighborhood walk. I also loved Britta Marakatt-Labba's exquisitely hand-embroidered depictions of the daily Sami life. The oppression of the Sami culture reminded me of how we Americans did the same thing in our country, which was a shameful, tragic part of our history. I would love to view Britta's artwork in person and wonder if she'd be able to exhibit at the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, WA? Thanks for sharing! Jenny, Seattle, WA, USA

Beautiful and moving artwork by Britta 🧡 I love seeing handicrafts represented in the art world. Two of my great great grandmothers were Sami, one of which had a sister who walked across the border to Norway, and somehow ended up at the women’s prison “spinnhus” in Oslo. I thought about that when you walked around the old hospital, buildings she might have walked past, since it was late 19th century. She eventually went back to Sweden where she became known to the locals for her colorful Sami weaving. So a lot of connections to today’s video for me. Thank you for sharing 🙏

I found another YT about her life and work at the National Museum of Norway website. Such beautiful handwork and brilliant sotrytelling. Mochi is her adorable self. And bravo on our mini glow up of your bedroom. I LOVED "Like Cutting for Stone" and look forward to reading his new book The Covenant of Water.

@thebestsnoopyfan The summer temperatures here in Oslo rarely get very high. Sometimes I wish it was warmer, but when I see how hot it is in some southern European countries, I think it would be too much for me. Anyway, autumn is coming soon here, so there will be lots of cozy videos soon ❤️

Dear Introvert, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for sharing your experience of seeing Britta Marakatt - Labba's works at the National Museum in Oslo. Like a true art lover you looked up close and showed us details that create the whole. To me those details are a Perfection and at the same time, they are simple and powerful, as you have observed. I also wanted to share that there is a past-present-future component in every moment. They arise simultaneously. Great art like this awakens that knowledge inside of us. I feel fortunate to be able to watch your videos. Love and blessings to you, dear Introvert, and your beautiful family!

I really really enjoyed the walk and even the exhibition! I know so little of the Sami, only that their history has a sad and dark chapter, but that their customs and traditions are very beautiful. Your explanations were very welcome. As an aside, I had no idea there was an Ethiopian community large enough to warrant a (decently large!) church in Norway of all places! That's so incredible. (My father is from Ethiopia but I was born in Canada. As a child, for traditional celebrations that fell in the winter, I'd have to wear a huge coat and snowpants over my traditional dress! I imagine it's similar for Ethiopian Norwegians :))

Thanks for sharing your story. The scenario you describe where you wear bulky winter clothes over your traditional clothes- I am sure that happens here too! The day I was filming a group of nicely dressed people were headed to that church. I'm certain they will be wrapped up in all kinds of warm clothes come winter 😄

Thank you for taking us to the National Museum to see Britta Marakatt-Labba’s tapestry about the Sami people. I found to be beautiful and very moving, and thought provoking, “The Circle of Life”. I did enjoy the walk with Moochi, I did like the brightly painted houses, I always do. That hospital was built before the British “discovered” Australia 🇦🇺. If one is lucky enough to meet the locals in their own habitat, when visiting a foreign country, one is very lucky indeed. I hope that the 3 of you have a great week. Warmest regards, Judy 🇦🇺🇳🇴❤️

Your vlogs always make me feel calm, relaxed, and incredibly inspired🤍 Thank you so much for introducing me to such a beautiful artist like Britta Marakatt-Labba. I had never seen her work before today, but now I can say with certainty that her art has captured my heart. I hope I will have the chance to see her work in person someday. I have never seen such an extraordinary presentation of the history of a people, their experiences, religion, and everyday life. It’s unbelievable!🥰 Mochi saw off Mr. J so sweetly and calmly! 😍That’s really great. For us, leaving the house without Chester is a real quest😅 Chester tries every possible way to sneak out and come with us, even if one of us stays home. Sometimes he even manages to get into the elevator first! In those situations, we just laugh, and I carry Chester back home, giving him an extra treat as compensation🤣 Thank you for your beautiful vlogs. Through your videos, you perfectly convey the atmosphere of the places you visit, enhancing the viewer’s immersion. It’s as if we’re right there with you and Mochi☺ Wishing you a wonderful week🤗 With love, Kristy and Chester🤍🤍

I love to hear about Chester's personality, so thanks for sharing! I can totally see him sneak out to come with you guys! 😂 How funny and sweet. Does he have a favorite, or does he like you equally? We never trained Mochi to be calm when we leave, we were just very lucky with her personality. When we leave, she just looks at us and accepts it immediately. In the beginning we were worried that she might bark when we left, so we installed a webcam. But when we looked at the camera, she is just sleeping all the time we are gone. I would feel sooo bad if she was anxious and barked. Now I can relax. Happy to hear you enjoyed the art. And I hope you get the chance to see it in real life one day. It is very special! Love from Oslo to the three of you❤️

@@introvert-and-dog I think Chester spends more time with me and gives me more love than my husband does. This is surprising because, during the first two weeks, Chester lived with Alex while I was working in another city and couldn’t take care of his upbringing. However, when I returned, Chester immediately seemed to love me more. Does Mochi have a favorite? ☺
