Onhhh Man, I’ve been on a big bike, been on a dual-sport as well. If you’ll get rid of romantic approach to transfers being part of a journey, combination of a van and dual sport is the best option. Anyway riding mc motorway is not fun at all. With a van you can do more km while transferring and still hop out of a van not even half tiered as doing 2/3 of the journey by bike. And your mc tires are brand new when you need them the most. Get a small van like vito, traffic or similar, and get back to dual-sport😊

A couple weeks ago i rode my ktm 390 2120km in two days in my home province of Manitoba Canada. It was great! What i was most impressed with is that my buddy who had been riding only a month did it on a crf 250. Today I'm going probably 1600km down to Wyoming. Should be great!

Yes, that would be interesting to hear: What made you shift from the Thor to SW-Motech? Anyway, ride safe -and thanks for your sharing!

How did I not see this sooner? A great, authentic journey, thanks Johannes. All those kilometres on tar though…ouch! That sort of distance on the road would stop me in my tracks, I need to get to the dirt sooner! Some amazing footage….the Pyrenees look incredible. So green!

Thanks for this, Johannes! 👍 How happy are you with the SW-Motech skid plate? Quite protective against stones and gunk, I guess. You think it will be sufficiently airy in warmer climates? Thanks! (You did have the Thor on for some time, didn't you?)

Hi Johannes, love the video, I have a T7 myself, and love the bike. I noticed that tou are not using the gpmucci skid plate. Is there a reason for that?

Hey bud, you've had some pretty amazing adventures on the mighty T7 since i last caught up with you😃 I get what you mean about the Rally-Raid suspension on the road & off road comparison😂my Rally-Raid 500x works in a similar way, but without the ground clearance that you have on the T7. Muddy rutted & knarly trails are definitely the nemisis for bigger bikes, but it's all good practice for handling skills👌my bike would be well suited to the dry rocky spanish trails i think. When i get the chance i do like listening to your analysis of the different weight bikes regarding pros & cons, you know your onions(as we say in the uk)😂 take care bud😉

lol Johannes, I am the type of person that gets sunburned in the winter on a cloudy day, even with factor 50, meanwhile the wife is of Maori descent and she tans, I burn, go red the peel, my daughter is the same, she takes after me, whilst my son takes after my wife lol being fair skinned sucks. Awesome trip, I am doing the Pyrenees Spain, France and Andorra in September. ABR festival this weekend though

What a superb adventure. The talk on the beach says it all. A life worth living is not usually the one where we stay in our comfort zone, following the pattern of the norm, and instead requires a few challenges under our belts. Looking at the trip in full, says to me that the T7 was exactly the right bike for that journey. I wonder if you can get the bike on a train to cross Europe?
@gbner9991
@gbner9991 Жыл бұрын
The train is a good point. I know there is a car-train going between Hamburg and Innsbruck/Verona. Saves about 1000KM. Not exactly the best place to get to Spain but a really good idea if you want to go to the Balkans or Italy. Hopefully it will still be active when I go from Italy to Norway at some point...

@@gbner9991 I’d like that idea for getting around too. The French trains are so fast, it could knock a lot off the time 👍👍

Very unfortunately a lot of car/bike train links are not supported anymore. This would make it much more easier to cover long and boring tar miles.

How come such a big guy like you can't lift up a Tenere? Yeah it's top heavy, but with the right technique you should easily be able to.

I'm really surprised to see your comment. Usually when you ride off-road, you don't drop your bike on nice flat spots, but instead, you usually drop it in the most tricky sections of the trail. So when your bike is on its side at a 45 degree muddy slope, and your feet are sliding with every step, it does not matter how strong you are. I agree that the technique matters, but what they normally teach you is how to lift the bike on a flat ground when you can find grip with your feet. These techniques can rarely be applied in these tricky situations.
