Hi Pal, when you buy a 24 hr ticket on Ruter including the airport zone, zone 2 and the City centre zone, does it cover the vy train connecting to the airport as well? I need to travel from the airport, go to my airbnb in Lorenskog, then go to city centre via bus, and take a return train to the airport the next morning. Will this whole journey be covered in the 24-hr ticket?
@SuppeIsCheese5 ай бұрын
@@karankalani4211 If taking VY's train in Oslo or Akershus county you are allowed to use ruter's regional tickets (zone 1 and 2...), but outside these zones you are obligated to use VY's or FLYTOGET's own tickets. I think the airport train has its own tickets and prices. Hope this helps!

T-bane is short for tunnel-bane 😊, refering to how it runs through tunnels underground ! And as additional info, you can ride all the different means of transportation on the same ticket (i.e. take the trikk and then a boat to the islands)

Very informative! When I visit a city for the first time, I personally prefer to walk everywhere (if distances are bearable) so that I can see how’s the city, not just the touristy areas. But, of course, if you don’t have much time, it’s great to know the means to move around. I’ll definitely check the trikk and the T-bane next time I’m in Oslo 🤗 Btw, I agree with other people commenting on the quality of the video. You’re putting a lot of effort on it and it shows 👏☺️

Love this! Hi, Pål and thanks for this fantastic overview of public transit in Oslo. I haven't made it to Norway yet, I'm hoping to get there in August or September 2025 and I do plan to get around on transit when I arrive. I live in Canada and I'm always happy to see what life is like in another winter city. Years ago, I saw your video about Norwegian brown cheese and immediately went out and bought some at a specialty shop. Delicious! In all of his books, Karl Ove Knausgård talks about eating brown cheese so I knew it was a Norwegian staple but I thought it sounded ... unappetizing. How wrong I was! When you explained that it was basically cheese made from caramelized milk, I knew I had to try it. Love your insights on Norway, looking forward to my first visit.

I'm visiting Norway right now and I wish I knew this useful information before 😂 but it has been pretty entertaining figuring out how the transport system works here. I love how clean and organized the city is and how kind and friendly people are. The only thing is that you must prepare your pocket because your estimated budget possibly won't be enough to afford every expense in here. Oslo is kind of expensive but it's totally worth it since the place offers a lifetime experience and unforgettable memories.

Such a huge different in quality. Just standing in front of the buss, or standing on the boat talking, or go off at the fram museum like that. Perfect. There is only one thing I found that could serve as a distraction. Some of the times, the music was just a little bit to loud over your voice. it did not "duck" enough. Other from that. I'm talking notes. You really impress me with these videos. Keep it up mate 👏🏻🇳🇴

Great video Pål. Can I ask you a very practical question please. When you buy a ticket on the Ruter app, how do you enter and exit metro stations, buses, and trams. As an example, in London you have to touch in and out on the Tube but only touch in on buses. In Stockholm you only touch in on the metro (not out) but on trams an inspector scans your card/app. I think this is really practical information for tourists. Thanks.
@norwaywithpal Жыл бұрын
Hi Dean, good question! There are no barriers for going in and out of metro stations, and you board buses and trams through any door. No tapping in or out. If you got the ticket on your phone you are good. If you don’t it and there is a control then you are in trouble ;)

Very nice information. The public transportation system looks very similar like in Helsinki, Finland. I have been to Oslo only once. Unfortunately I didn't have more time to spend there that time.

@@norwaywithpal welcome! One difference I noticed is that Helsinki has only one metro line that has two branches, and trains are used more for local traffic than in Oslo. I surely will come again some day. I have been driving around your country here and there between Mandal and Vardø and will do it more in the future :) By the way that "trikk" is a nice word. In Helsinki slang trams are called "spåra" which is pronounced so that "å" is short. That's of course "stolen" from Swedish.

Great video! I have been to Oslo before but I’m attending a concert by Oslo philharmonic this Friday, good to know these options! Best regards from Edinburgh😊 PS: if you happen to read this - I have a bit time on sat morning wonder if it’s worth a trip to Vestkanttorvet? I like to visit flea antique markets in foreign cities. Thanks!

Thank you! I hope you'll enjoy the concert. I think the Vestkanttorvet is well worth it if you are into flea antique markets :)

Gracias. Sería necesario completar la información: cómo y cuándo se validan los tickets, al subir, al bajar, ó ambas, y el precio.

Thank you Pal for your informative videos! Your videos have helped the 3 of us with our travel plans for Oslo/Bergen/Flam which is happening in a few weeks time, very excited. Do you have any suggestions where we can securely store our larger luggage items in Oslo while we take our trip to Bergen/Flam for a few days?

Interessant å høre at t-bane komme kanskje fra T'en som var over banen. Jeg har alltid trodd og blitt sagt at det var for tunnelbane! 😁

Jo det var nok litt av min egen teori, og mange vil si seg uenig i det ;)

Very useful. Wondering if I need to validate the tickets before boarding the transport?
@norwaywithpal9 ай бұрын
All tickets need to be validated. You either buy it in the app and it validates automatically, or if you have a paper ticket you validate it by scanning it either before (metro) or onboard (bus ferry tram)
