Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life. Running for my life from 3 record breaking Hurricanes to ride it out in massive Blizzard, Snow Storm & Camping in Freezing Temperatures to survive. From Triple Hurricane inferno in the Arctic to a huge Blizzard further North. This was the scariest part of my 2,000 Mile Drive through the Arctic and the Arctic Ocean. Full Extended Version!
3 record breaking hurricanes surprised me and hit the arctic coast within one week as I was traveling in my van to the outlying islands. The hurricanes where the strongest that have ever been measured in the country and reached wind speeds of over 62 m/s, or 140 mph. Records where set that where way higher than this again. Red alerts where issued for all along the coast, and I ended up in the middle of it, not by my choice, but when ferries are involved things can get tricky. I decided to run for my life to get out of there, and instead take my chances against a massive Blizzard. It was fierce!

American here…. Specifically living in Florida. I feel for ya… some folks just don’t understand how dangerous a hurricane is. The winds alone are no joke, but the storm surge can REALLY do some damage. I was born further up north, so I understand blizzards too. However, while they can be dangerous, you made the right choice choosing to ride out in a blizzard rather than a hurricane. Snow, you can dig out of, but getting flooded is GAME OVER.

Exactly my thought, now we do not get tropic hurricanes here, so the destruction is minimal compared to the southern hurricanes, but my van would not stand the high winds without proper shelter

I’m a Saskatchewan native, I used to love watching the white wall of a massive blizzard out the window, while safely tucked into the farmhouse with the roaring wood stove with a mountain of firewood in the vestibule/ back porch… it was icy cold, but cozy sleeping in front of the wood stoves….. depending upon which way you were orientated..back or front…Everyone slept in the kitchen.. Did the same when I rented a house with a wood stove when I was a teenager..
