Another interesting and geeky deep dive into viticulture, viniculture and Austrian wine. I especially like his point that there human element is often forgotten when talking abouts terroir. Us wine geeks do get too much into soils to the neglect of other terroir influences. Andreas make a valid point about the distinction between climate change and global warming. Climate change is what makes winemakers jobs more difficult every year. When he talked about Riesling's ability to make a very wide range of wine styles, I thought of Hungarian Furmint. As it can make complex and age worthy dry single vineyard examples, oak aged dry whites, off dry styles, Tokaji Aszu and sparkling wines as well. Thanks for making these in-depth podcasts, Agnes. Very cool and educational, they're are much appreciated.

Thank You. Yes, but he speaks very well in English and it is easy to listen to him. Which is also important for those who only use audio platforms. 🍷

Wow, what an educational discussion again, thanks! Eye opening considerations about the mythical terroir and maybe the 'classic' definitions can be refreshed and elaborated after all. Looking forward that dissertation 😀 🍷

You got me with this podcast, Agnese! Back to September, great to recall our WSET4 group visit vineyards Bründlmayer where Andreas explained to us in person some of these topics. And all the best with your MW studies and exams!!!

Great interview and insights by Andreas! Riesling is easily me and my dining companion's very favorite white wine and food pairing wine--so versatile, aromatic, cleansing, full of character, nuanced across regions, and unbeatable for tricky pairings like strong-flavored fish! Actually, I am watching this a second time after having my wine eyes opened by my first Brundlmayer (Riesling Terrassen Kamptal), partly with your glowing recommendation of the winery from different videos. Watching this interview gives me more appreciation for Brundlmayer, and I hope to try more of their fancier Rieslings and delve into their Veltliners, too!

I came across a site the offers a good selection of Bründlmayer at good prices. I wonder what are the following wines like from your experience. Also, if you get to pick just one, which one would it be? - Bründlmayer Grüner Veltliner Käferberg (2020) - Bründlmayer Riesling Zöbinger Ried Heiligenstein (2021+2022) - Bründlmayer Riesling Steinmassl (2020)

Yes! I kind of know what it is, and I can talk about it long hours, but if I need to define it on paper, in few words, I cannot. 😅

To be completely honest, I haven’t tasted that much, mostly only ice wines, and my opinion is purely theoretical. But if understanding correctly - the high quality and limited production is also seen in their still wines. 🙏🏻
