This was really nice to listen in on. I catch all of your videos on KZbin and I have both enjoyed and learned a lot from the both of you. I try to buy and drink as much different wine as I can, which might sound like I'm an alcoholic but It's mostly 1-2 bottles every other weekend or so, and the cellarclass initiative seems like it might be up my alley of things to explore and learn more about wines. Again thanks for the great video. Also have you tried any Swedish wines? I'm Swedish but we are such a small producer that even our alcohol monopoly stores (Systembolaget) don't stock them. Maybe something for a future video, goes for both of you. :)

Honestly I haven't heard of Konstantin Baum until now. But now that I heard his story and his path, I feel as I could listen to him all day. I wish i could become a master of wine too as I am a very good taster and smeller. It's literally called super taster and super smeller, we studied this in genetics and tested it and I am one. Not gonna lie, it sounds like a cooler job than a doctor. Do you also read SF books, or just educational?
@NoSedimentКүн бұрын
I am actually currently reading one SF book, You need to have something on the side. 😅 I want encourage everyone to try study wine - it is not about the tasting only, it is also very deep knowledge of physics, chemistry, geography and You get to meet the coolest people while You do that.

I appreciate your objectivity, but knowing if you taste a wine on your channel you can never sell it and if you sell a wine you can never taste it on your channel, isn't that a difficult decision to make? I'd be happy just having you disclose that you sell it.

Hi Agnes, that was a great interview! I follow Konstantin for quite a while. His knowledge, his tasting skills and his cool climate humor are a joy to witness and to learn from. He is also a humble man that sips himself through dozens of (cheaper than cheap) discounter wines. I really appreciate this because it might draw more winedrinkers with a small budget to his channel . Not everybody can afford Pétrus. I started with a simple Buzet and learned over decades there is a world to discover.

First ever comment on a KZbin video : I watch both your channels and have been for quite a while. I found this interaction particularly agreeable. What is important to me is the integrity of it all. The wine business is not known for its great integrity and this contributes to the weaknesses it has. So similarly, I hope that you both will pay a lot of attention to that. It is OK to have a channel on social media with interesting content ( which you both have). It is not OK too try to fool the viewers into buying certain wines. But then again it is OK to use your content and name to attract more buyers for yourselves. No issue with that.
@NoSediment17 сағат бұрын
Thank You for Your support and Your comment! 🙏🏻 I guess I don’t see anything bad to invite viewers or people at the shop to buy a certain wine - this is what sommelier or a professional at a wine shop does. We listen to our friend suggestions, why we shouldn’t listen to professional suggestions? 🧐

Awesome interview. Two of my favorite wine KZbinrs together. I would like to know what wines you guys tasted after the interview. Konstantin, as far as the education and entertainment thing is concerned, a good teacher is entertaining as well. As a teacher, you have to hold a classes attention. No one will sit through a presenter if he is "dry" and boring. As an average dude who enjoys tasting and reviewing wine, I will tell you that you intermix both very nicely. Your humor presents you as a cool guy to probably hang out with and learn from as well. Remembr that wine is fun and shouldn't be stuffy. In the end, I appreciate you keeping it real. Agnese, thank you for doing this interview, I really enjoyed it.

What a great talk! Two of the greats, love that you Agnese have come around to the ideas of the wine scores. The scoring philosophy of Konstantin is like you discuss in the back end of the talk, very translatable to the viewers when one do not consider price a part of the score. However I agree that this could be a separate scoring/recommendation metric. Keep up the great work both of you!
@NoSediment17 сағат бұрын
Thank You. 🙏🏻 Scoring is a very controversial subject, and many wine professionals do not like to do that. I myself like to keep price in mind, because maybe the wine XX is the best You can buy for 20 Eur, why shouldn’t it get maximum points for the clearly great job a winemaker has done. But then again, some like to score wines down because they are expensive, we shouldn’t penalise it only because it is expensive, if it is still exceptional wine.. so as You see a lot of controversy here. 😥

I love the part he said about the “hate” comments. Social media has given us the platform that we never imagined would come along and we have the room to express ourselves immensely, but it also gives space to people speak their mind and unfortunately sometimes offend. As in life (outside of the internet) you can’t let this stuff get to you. The most important thing is to create and build a community of people that progress thanks to your work.

As to the value of social media on wine education, I do follow Konstantin and I look for wines he tastes on his KZbin channel. But I also have a number of friends in Europe who are avid and active wine collectors, and drinkiers; and their posts on Facebook (a social medium...) at wineries and at restaurants around the continent have had a big influence on my buying and tasting preferences by showing their many examples of finding and drinking good French wine and Italian wine. I have watched a number of videos by Agnes, which add to my love of wine as well.
