My relatives swear by the 180 TSX that I tailor to their rifles chambered for 30'06 for all big game👍👍 I've always used the 180 Nosler Partition ì for my ironsighted RemBDL700 in 30'06. I get as close as I can possibly get then wait for a clean headshot. Ive loaded and used 165 - 200gr Accubond bullets on Moose taking clean headshots at ranges up to 400yds after installing my VX3 4.5 -14x44 QR mounted scope. Ballistics didnt fill my freezer! I wish Nosler would just take the Partition and add a polymer tip with just a little bit more hollow point behind that. Always liked Barnes, kind of a Hammer shooter these days. When I can afford it

All very good bullets. I’ve been a Nosler man for 35+ years. I’m currently shooting 140 AB’s in my 7mm-08 and 160 AB’s in my .280 Ackley Improved. Very satisfied. Every now and then I will try different loads because I enjoy load development but when it’s on the line, no question Nosler AB’s! Thanks

I've never had any complaints on the Partition bullets.Ive shot game literally within inches of the muzzle, and out to around 200 yards. The animals ever run past 40 yards or so,but even if they did, there is no problem following the blood trail, there is that much blood loss. They have always shot through the game, leaving massive blood trails.I pretty much use them exclusively in my hunting handloads.

I've used the 180gr Partition loaded to accuracy specs for my REM700 in 30'06. Furthest I've taken an 3XLarge Bull Moose was 387.4 yds ranged. I adjusted my scope, took steady aim then squeezed and sent one. I watched its head drop instantly. I recovered a nicely mushroomed Partition from the cheekbone. It hit directly behind the ear, instant lights out. The heart and ribs are too valuable, also adrenaline taints the meat. I'm currently on a 0 travel, no follow up streak courtesy of the Nosler Partition👍👍 I don't take those type of shots, I get as close as I can get and utilize my ironsights to take a clean headshot.

Nice choice. I have used barnes ttsx and nosler accubonds for years. In the smaller calibers , such as the 243 , the barnes really shines when driven fast. Im from Saskatchewan, Canada 🇨🇦 and thats all my family uses for deer. Use 200gr accubonds in my 3006, have had excellent results on moose and elk, even when shot at close range, within 50 yards, best bullet for stopping them in there tracks, and haven't had one separate yet. Likely because they are not going over 2650 fps.

Nosler Partition. I carry steel wool and keep the points clean like a pencil. Never had an accuracy problem with the Partition. I shoot them out of 20 different cartridges. 2nd would be the Swift. With any bullet you have to keep the tip free of damage. My experience with the TTSX is that it is too hard. Almost like shooting an FMJ. Killed a big 6X6 bull with a 180 Partition out of a 300 Wby Mag this year. Bullet impacted right front shoulder at joint, went thru rib bone, lungs, heart, and exited thru the left rib bone. Perfect wound channel and one shot kill. I teach Hunters Ed. I have strong beliefs that it’s a hunters duty to know their limits on distance and put the bullet where it belongs. Not a fan of long range hunting. If you want to do that, shoot steel not live animals. Something to consider. If a bullet does not expand much (FMJ’s, Solids, Barnes TTSX) to get a bigger wound channel you have to go to a bigger bore diameter. This is why there are laws requiring 40 Cal or bigger for some species in some countries in Africa. Works the same as the evolution proceed when the laws changed from lead to non-toxic shot to hunt waterfowl. Saw shot size with steel change from 6, 5, & 4’s to 2’s and BB for ducks.

Since getting back to Canada I eat almost exclusively wild game I’ve killed. With that, I’m now switching over to all copper for my hunting bullets. I LOVE reloading the 165 gr Accubond in my 30-06 for hunting everything from deer to moose. But with the potential of eating a bit more lead than I’m now comfortable with, I’m switching. I shoot a 6.5-300 Wby Mag as well and with that level of speed using copper to stay together works wonders so far and the 127 LRX has been awesome! I’m starting load work up in the 30-06 with 175 gr LRX and Superperformance powder for approximately 2800 fps so it should be great out to about 300 as my max distance. My previous experience with the partition is nil, as I’ve never been able to get ahold of them when Accubonds are cheaper and work beautifully. The Scirrocco was great, but I didn’t see any difference with the Accubonds, especially at the price difference. Honestly, they’re all great and if your rifle shoots them well; you won’t be let down!

I'm a big fan of Nosler Partition. I even have some .22 cal 60gr partitions if I decide deer hunt with my AR. I have shot some Accubonds in .270 and .25 cal and they have been more than acceptable accuracy wise but I haven't shot any game so far with them. All of these bullets should be fine for medium range hunting. I do think we need a tipped partition though.

The Accubond is the best bullet out there for up close and far away especially if your shooting a magnum! The partition is a great bullet too especially when it came out my father was reloading them in the 50’s and 60’s and for that time were the best in the market! That being said the Partition is not a great bullet up close in a magnum! About 20 years ago I was hunting with my dad when an elk presented a shot at about 60-70 yards broadside and when I got ready to shoot the elk moved just enough so the bullet hit a little low and hit just under the body on the low side just above the knee and the partition came apart in a 300 win mag 180 grain! After tracking several miles and finally getting another shot I put it down and found that the core had totally separated from the copper. Fast forward about 10 years and got the same shot with the Accubond and it held together and put the elk down! Using magnums go with Accubond, none magnums go with the Partition. 60 years of hunting and reloading to back up this conclusion and hundreds of big game as well! Keep the groups small and make the first shot count!

Here is my ranking. Ttsx, accubond, Partition and Scirocco2 tie. Here’’s why. I get great accuracy with ttsx…followed by Accubond bullets. The Partition and Scirocco bullets in my guns are hard to get consistent groups…much harder then the ttsx and AB bullets. If I was hunting elk…180 Accubond all the way. Actually both the AB and ttsx are a horse apiece on most game. I would go with the most accurate bullet 90% of the time using these two bullets.

Lately with all the discussion of lead in meat consumption its hard not to pick a Barnes TTSX. However I still not convinced they are as good as the Accubond to reliably kill game. You still hear the about the odd one that got away with a solid hit and a Barnes bullet. However, if you use bonded bullets, you can worry less about ingesting lead since it won't shed as many lead fragments as ordinary cup and core bullets. You'll never have to worry about lead poisoning by the ones that got away. Depending on your caliber and bullet weight, those copper bullets are very long limiting the powder capacity thus muzzle velocity and that won't help your effective long range. One point that is rarely discussed is that the Barnes bullets mushroom with 4 petals which actually reduces the frontal area somewhat when compared to most bonded bullets. This could help with penetration but reduce actual energy transfer and wound tract diameter. With high velocity magnums I'd go with Barnes. For standard calibers it would be Accubonds. I still recommend Nosler Partition around here for moose and rarely see Swift Siroccos. The Partitions are almost always accurate in most rifles. The Siroccos a little trickier to reload but have higher BC"s. So if I'm pushing the limits of my caliber I'd go with the Siroccos for higher retained energy. If I'm not worried about striking energy I'd go Partition.

As a hunter I am more concerned with terminal performance. My average hunting distance is 200-300 yards, but it's not uncommon to make shots out to 500 yards or even 100 yards. A bonded, partition or interlocked bullet is crucial to achieving the tissue damage needed. I've used cup & core bullets and they just don't perform well at high velocity. They tend to explode upon impact and do not penetrate deeply. My choices are Hornady Interlock bullets, Nosler Partition and Nosler Accubond. These bullets perform consistently at all reasonable hunting distances and deliver the terminal performance that I want. I hunt deep south Texas, where the brush is thick and thorny. You need a good blood trail to recover game and the bullets I've listed provide that. Big, bloody exit wounds bleed.

If you load as instructed by the manufacture, you use one step lighter solid copper bullet versus a lead bullet. I E1 50 copper equals 165 lead. A barn Swoll out penetrate and out expand an Accu bond at any distance. This is because the Barnes is going an extra 150/200‘ a second being a lighter bullet.

@@ReloadingWeatherby The TTSX and the TSX are definitely better improved bullets, than their original X Bullets in my opinion. Still, I leave nothing to chance when hunting, and tend to go with what has served me well, tried, and true, based on past experiences over fifty-plus years. Nosler AccuBond, AccuBond LR, Ballistic Tips, and Partition bullets, continue to fit that bill. @@ReloadingWeatherby I used to be a Nosler fan all the way, but since I started using Swift I’ve found them to have a much better terminal effect. The A-Frames have a bonded core both front and rear whereas the Partitions are not. I also get a better flight trajectory from the Siroccos than with the Acubonds although the terminal ballistics are equal. That is just my experience and it is evident throughout a range of calibers from .257 Roberts AI to .338 Remington Ultra Magnum. For African dangerous game the Breakaways are the ultimate in penetration.

I’ve tried them all on thin skinned deer and black bear. The first generation Scirrocco was WAY better! It expanded rapidly and dump energy. I shot Black bear with a factory 180 grain load out my 300 RUM. Out of 13 black bear I watched get shot that year. Mine was the only one that dropped on the spot and never moved. They were shot with other 300 RUMs using 180 grain Baltic tips…close drop on the spot comparison. Also 30-06, 12 gauge slugs, big bore pistols…you name it…and they all ran after the shot accept for the ordinal Scirrocco. Accubonds don’t expand on thin skinned game. The new Scirrocco 11 doesn’t hardly expand ether. I’ve tried every Barnes made in several rifles. They all average 3/4 MOA. Horrible groups. My vote goes to the partition out of your group. Shot a few bear with them. Massive damage but they all traveled after heart and lung shots with a 200 grain version loaded a hair over 3000 fps. Imo I’ll take a cheap cup and core heavy for caliber bullet over all of them every time unless I was shooting am elephant or big 5. They imo are all marketing gimmicks with less then reliable consistent expansion characteristics EXCEPT for the partition with its thin jacket above the partition. The lead smears away and it sheds the jacket dumping energy and making multiple wound channels for a quick kill. The rest of your bullets above hold together and act like FMJs in thin skinned game unless heavy bone is hit transferring energy and causing expansion.

Accubond and partition are the best. Never had good results with the barnes and never was able to get good groups with the swift although Im sure my rifles just didnt like them. I have used the ttsx's in multiple rifles, calibers and lot numbers with factory and reloads and they have always been terrible in terms of terminal performance. Nearly lost a mature Wisconsin whitetail that I shot at 325 with an 80 gr barnes going over 3800 fps with a 257 wby because there was no expansion and zero blood. Then lost a big black bear shooting the 160 gr barnes going at some buck naked speeds out of a 340 wby. Called in a dog to track it and it went 400 yards before crossing a river and climbing a cliff. Same story with multiple other deer which should drop instantly if shot with a 340. All shots were placed about as good as you can get but they just zip through and do almost no damage. Later that year I shot another bear with some 210 gr partitions and it dropped like a bag of bricks. I will never use the barnes again when good bonded or A frame style bullets exist.

Lost a nice Wyoming mulie buck last year. Shot it at about 100 yards with my 257 Weatherby, loaded with 100 grain Barnes TTSX handloaded bullets. Same thing. Barely a flinch, and a scant blood trail that disappeared before I could find the animal. Still bummed! 😖

Barnes or partitions is my vote. Accubond are to tough for long range or non magnum rounds and ony really good for up close. Swift ive never even heard of so i cant make a valid vote for it.

I have a 270 I load the Accubonds 130 grain to 3100 fps they have performed very well at short range and out to 500 yrds I also use Partitions 150 grain normally use them for bear and deer at closer ranges I have never had a partition that didn't pass through until this year I shot the deer quartering away it busted up the front shoulder pretty good when I was skinning the deer I found the bullet about 6 inches behind the head in the neck against the hide that bullet never expanded correctly it was bent over in a 45 degree angle and looked like you squashed it with your fingers I weighed the bullet it was 142 grains so it lost a little but not much this was about 150 yrd shot and the deer only went about 30 yrds so I still will use Partitions at closer range and at bear size game just wanted to share my experience with those 2 from Nosler

Barnes ttsx, can't hunt with lead in commiefornia. Bullet placement and range that you practice and are proficient at will always be important, pick which is most accurate in your gun and practice under similar conditions that you expect to encounter while hunting. That means up and down steep hills, cross canyons, in the wind, in mirage, sun in the scope, etc. Good luck and good hunting!

For hunting bullets, bc means bullet construction. These bullets are designed to poke holes in game animals, not paper. I'm not going to vote for any bullet that's not available today. Love the Partitions and Accubonds but they are no longer available. That pretty much leaves the TTSX as the only player left in the (hunting) game. Dear Nosler, you fellas left the gate open and the cows got out. In otherwords, lack of availability of your products forced me to change to the TTSX. I've developed good hunting loads with them, have developed a fondness for them, and I'm not coming back. I found a better bullet. Good luck rebuilding your business. Thanks for the vid.

Swift Scirocco II first, Accubond second, Accubond LR third... Density matters! Jacket construction matters. The Swift has a thicker jacket for much longer than the Accubond that allows it to perform better at close ranges (where most game is taken) while still having a light front quarter for longer shots which is really impressive. The regular Accubond has a tapered jacket too but half of the jacket is thin (as opposed to a quarter or third for the Swift) for long range expansion. The Accubond unnecessarily sheds weight up front due to too much light jacket there. It works great because up close you're dumping a lot of energy so it can get by losing some, but the Scirocco II does not have the same fault. The Accubond LR sacrifices close performance for distant performance (which works better in cartridges that don't develop as much speed. It is more Creedmore than PRC) and has even more thin jacket than the regular Accubond. But it is also bonded (as are all three) and has mass on its side (especially in the higher weights. Monolithic solids shed petals at high velocity and pencil through and fail to expand at long ranges making them worse at close range and long range as well than the above (again more of a problem with faster cartridges than slower ones). If I were going to run a monolithic solid I would cut my barrel down so as to not over-drive it up close and sort of reset it's effective range closer. Monolithic solids would be improved if skived deeper so they could better expand at higher velocity rather and ripping the petals off. Tips and cavities are a help at slower speed expansion but still have trouble competing with lead and thin copper jackets. So much has to do with your rifle and load and use which is where most run into problems. You have to balance everything in harmony to maximize your potential.

Barnes (monolithic)= no bloodshot, no blood trail. Very small petals. Penetrates 100% like a FMJ. Perfect for high shoulder kills. 500 yards and under IMO. Regardless of energy. Berger = Lead grenade, with skin thin jacket. Metal in your burgers. Massive bloodshot. I would rather not, but they fly so GOOD!! 0 - personal effective range... IMO Bonded = hit hard, penetrate deep. Probably the most trusted IMO. 800 and under depending on energy left. BC does not equal accuracy, consistency does. Even if youre doing it wrong, be consistent. BC does not kill, energy does. Ballistic Coefficient makes it easier to hit at long range because the projectiles are more efficient, for longer. Imagine a slower projectile passing a faster one at around 1200 yards. That's it. If you're not shooting out to a mile (1760 YARDS), forget about BC.

I shot a large Texas hog with a 308 Win Barnes TSX 168 gr over a feeder at 100 yards. If the shot presents itself, I will do a behind the ear shot but this time he wouldn’t hold his head still for any length of time. So my second choice is a high shoulder shot. However, that spot on the hog is armor plated with about 2-1/2 inches of a tough layer almost like cartilage on this particular boar. This hog also had long hair caked in mud. The TSX blows thru the first shoulder bone, liquifies the top couple of inches of both lungs, breaks the backbone, breaks the second shoulder bone and continues on for a complete pass thru. This hog was about 28 inches thick at the shoulders and Im estimating every bit of 400 pounds. He dropped like a bag of wet cement. I wouldnt hesitate to shoot another hog like that at that distance with any of these bullets and the only reason I was using Barnes TSX was that the Nosler Partitions were sold out. Id rank my selection in order as follows: 1. Partition - Id use on both thin skin medium game as well as tough large game using high shoulder shot at close, medium range (300 yd). The Partition really does act like 2 bullets in one. 2. TSX- only on tougher animals at fairly close to medium range with a high shoulder shot. Big hogs, elk, moose & bear. 3. Scirocco - thicker jacket than accubond so up close it should hold together better. But i have never shot an animal with a scirocco. 4. Accubond - for longer shots where velocity drops off, I would choose the accubond over the TSX and scirocco. The Accubond has a thinner jacket than the scirocco and should open up better. Again Partition would be my first choice over all of them.

Nosler Partition. I carry steel wool and keep the points clean like a pencil. Never had an accuracy problem with the Partition. I shoot them out of 20 different cartridges. 2nd would be the Swift.
