My reloading bench always has Nosler Partition bullets. My daughter has taken one shot kills at Michigan White-tailed deer with the 223 Remington cartridge. I reload Nosler 60 grain Partition bullets with H4895 powder out of a Thompson Center Encore 223 Remington 24 inch rifle barrel with a 1-12" rifling twist rate. I use Nosler's Partition bullets in the following cartridges. 223 Remington 60 grains 243 Winchester 85 & 100 grains 270 Winchester 150 grains 280 Ackley Improved 140 grains 338 Federal 210 grains 338-06 A-Square 210, 225 & 250 grains

I've used the Nosler Partition bullet since the late 1970's. Shot elk, deer, musk ox, coyote, squirrel, etc with a 180 grain bullet. All kills with a .30-06 (and recently a .308) being one shot. Less meat damage and blood shot waste. Only recovered one bullet from an elk, on the opposite side of the shot at the hide, that was perfectly mushroomed.

I know that I'm preaching to the choir but I have found that the Nosler partition bullet has never failed me when I do my part! I started reloading at 16 yrs old and am now 69! 💯 Exactly 💯 👏 🙌 👌 damn well said! As close as i can get to a moose yeah! If i cant get a clean headshot, i dont want to use a chest shot, ruins good rib meat on moose but if it runs yeah no choice but to aim for the engine.I use a ironsighted Rem 700 BDL chambered for 30'06, I use accuracy loads specifically tailored to my rifle. Thats how serious I take my moose hunting as close i can get to make a 1 shot kill partition ammo is expensive but never let me down.

This is true depending on the terrain you’re hunting. For example, I’ve hunted mulies in heavy PJ country and shots inside 150 yards are the norm. I’ve also hunted mulies in the high country, as well as sage brush flats, and 300 yard shots are the norm.

Thanks man for your good down to earth advice. Here in N.Z there is so much obsession with B.C's & velocity. Long live common sense and Partition Points. All my hunting is at ranges under 400m. Nosler P Ps do the job and do it well. Hornady Eldx, Sst and Berger Vlds are too inconsistent . Tracking an injured animal in our thick undergrowth is damn hard enough. Bullets that kill quickly are what a hunter needs. Thanks for your experience. Keep sharing the good stuff.

I have been using Partition bullets for over 53 years. Nothing like it! I have seen too many bullets go through a animal, and the animals then runs.. With Partition, the animal stops in the tracks! Thank you for this episode! I am a hunter and not a target shooter! I dont care about a bullet that retains 90% weight... not important. The Partion puts the animal down! No need to look for the animals after they are shot!

I've shot a lot of elk in my lifetime of hunting and I have never found any of the bullets I've used when I hunt with a 30-06. It didn't matter the range they all passed through and the animal was harvested and none escaped. I can't say the same thing for a 7mm mag. though. It turned out to be the worst caliber I ever hunted elk with. It's gone now cuz there was just to much bullet splatter and meat damage without downing the animal and then long hikes to finally catch the elk.

I've admittedly been caught up in tactical hype or latest and greatest type things over the years, but have recently come full circle to the things that are good for their own sake and not because marketing makes them so. The classic rifles and cartridges are still around because they're proven to work. It has been incredibly enjoyable and enlightening to watch, read and learn from sources like yourself or GunBlue. There are undoubtedly many more, but regardless I appreciate the content you create to help people like myself return to a grounded, more practical and common sense way of living. I am still young but am far behind those who grew up with influences such as yourself to guide them. All good things come in due time, and for me the time is here with all of the resources one could hope for.

Years ago a friend of mine changed the disks on his field plow and gave me one of his old disks. Plowshare steel is very hard to stand up to abrasion and is similar to AR500. My friend and I decided to give the disk a bullet test and found that it stood up to everything we shot at it and other friends started bringing their magnum rifles to try to pierce the disk. The .300 Weatherby almost made it through, but just made cracks on the back. My friend was the first to penetrate it with his M1A1 with API ammo. I was the second one to penetrate the disk with a Nosler Partition out of my 7mm Rem Mag. No other 7 mm bullets that I had made it through or did any FMJ or other hunting bullet. I wish I still had that disk to try a TTSX on it.

I have used the partitions in my hunting rounds for over 35 years and love them.. but I have switched to the ttsx even though my state has no law against lead. I switched because the partition dumps a lot of lead in the animal and I don’t want my family and I to be eating it. I find out the distance the ttsx drops below 2300 fps and that is my limit to shoot because I want to be sure they open up. I hunt in the woods of the east so most shots are 150 yards or less. Your channel is awesome.. I love the way you cut through the bullshit out there and tell the truth. Stay safe and live free brother.

100% spot on! Been shooting them since the 1960’s. Good hunters either stalk, scout and figure out how to set up well inside ethical shooting ranges. In addition, I take a piece of fine steel wool to clean up the points. They shoot amazingly accurate. In big guns with heavy recoil I shoot the PPT (Protected Points). I noticed the 115 Partition for 25 Cal. Out of a 257 Weatherby Magnum the BC is an irrelevant concern. My grandson shot his first whitetail Buck at about 145 yards with a 22-250 with 60 Grain Nosler Partitions. The meat processor is full of young men who shoot 300 Ultra Mags. When taking him apart they could not believe the entrance hole, wound channel, and exit hole. They were shocked to find out what he was shot with. These are some of my favorites: 22-250 - 60 Grain Partition loaded with CFE223 or Staball 6.5. 243 - 85 and 100 Partitions. Recommend giving RL 26 a test in the 243. 25-06 - 100 Grain Partition. H4350 or RL 22. 257 Weatherby - 115 Partition. RL 26 in the 3 I own produce velocities near the 100 grain factory loads. 264 Win Mag. 140 for tough game. 270 Win and 270 Weatherby Mag - 130’s and 150’s. 7mm 160 and 175 Partition. 175 is wonderful for elk. 308 and 30-06 -150 and 165’s. 300 Win & 300 Weatherby with 180 Partition 340 Weatherby - 225 Partition with RL 26. New life. With 150 to 200 FPS gain in velocity. 375 & 378 - 300 Grain Partition.

Outstanding information. Bullet mfg's are just like golf ball mfg's. Always have to invent something new to keep the cash cow rolling in. I do not follow the hype especially when it leads to hunting game at extended (500+ yds) ranges. There is no place in the hunting world for this. Of course this is just my opinion.

Totally agree with your opinion about the hype for calibers that supposedly kill out to 900 yards. My 2506 has never failed me out to 400 yards on Texas whitetail, Wyoming pronghorn, feral hogs in texas, coyotes all over, and Texas exotics like axis & fallow deer. Good hunting ethics calls for the Hunter to pit his woodmanship & stalking skills against the animal being hunted and take shots at ethical ranges. The 120 grain nosler partition in my 2506 does the job at plenty far enough ranges.

I grew up in Wyoming hunting everything that walks out there. I started shooting Partitions because my father and grandfather used them. I've taken everything from Pronghorn to Elk with them. MANY animals and none of them which were fairly hit ever required more than one shot. I've used them in my .243Win, .270Win, .280Rem, .308Win and .300WM. Never had a bullet "fail" which I recovered. Not "sexy", not the highest BC(WAAAAAY Overrated in hunting applications) but very stout and does what it's supposed to do. Hit hard, drive deep and expand. Stay FAR away from many of these target bullets disguised as hunting bullets. You'll be disappointed. I've seen it first hand with some of the ELD's...Great for paper...junk for flesh.

Agree with you 100%. I have been shooting them for over 50 years. Still have a Nosler #1 loading manual. A trick I learned is to carry a piece of steel wool to keep the tips cleaned up. I use it like an old pencil sharpener. Just smooth them a little. Also I am a Hunter Ed instructor. I believe in and support ethical hunting distance. Learn to stalk. It takes much more skill to sneak up on an animal and harvest him at close distance.

As a long time partition user from age 12 and up, I am currently 68 years old, when the original partition came out it was made with a lead core and an outer jacket of swedge brass. The outer coating was not copper as designed by Mr. Nosler. In my opinion after shooting both bullets for many years the swedge the brass bullet was superior in penetration a knockdown power. For various reasons Mr. Nosler switch from swedged brass to a copper jacket, I believe this was done for several reasons 1. accuracy, 2. measured weight repeatability during production, 3. Cost of manufacturing, as the swedged bullet jacket and the actual bullet manufacturing process was a more time consuming and expensive process to produce the finished bullet. Just my thoughts from an old long time reloader, hunter and ethical sportsman...

If my memory serves me correctly the original Nosler projectile had a multi groove body. These bullets where dead 🥜 nuts accurate. About the mid 1970’s they hired some dumb ass university educated fool that eliminated the grooves making the bullet not accurate. It still performed for the most part but the knife edge accuracy was gone. I hope they fired that fool and sent him packing. To much education and no practical experience is a recipe for failure.

I do wish Nosler would look at putting a protective point on the partition so they don't bash so easily in the magazine. But even at that, a smashed lead tip doesn't seem to effect the accuracy much but I'm sure it doesn't do the BC any good.

My very first bullet I hand loaded was a 100 gr Nosler partition bullets in my 243 win. Over 50 years ago. Living in Alaska and share this land with the Brown bears. I want a bullet with a proven track record. Thank you for this video. All my rifles are loaded with Nosler partition bullets. From the 223 up to my 350 Remington magnum.

Yep, I think the nosler partition is a great bullet. It along with the Remington core lokt are the only bullets I have ever used on whitetails here in south central Alabama. Always works for me. Thanks for your videos, there're interesting and informative.

@@WILDBOYZ Yes! I've only ever used Federal Fusion for 15 years, 150 grain in my .308 Win R700. Immediate expansion, deep penetration and near perfect weight retention. Deer, coyote, wolf and even big game like elk, moose and bears.

Thank You, you answered many of my questions, my son and I have claimed for years the partition was the best big game bullet, but with all the new hot shot bullets and bs about them, I wondered if it still was, I believe it still is, I have also had many bullet failures with Bronze points , Sierra game kings, sst's etc.

I agree. Putting a respectable accuracy load may take a little time, but partition well worth the patience. They deliver

Agree, takes time to develop, you can get very small groups @100 using a leads led, I use .3 increments but 3 shot groups, then start messing with seating depth after i find the sweet spot. I use a Leopold quick release with a 3- 9 by 40, but i might upgrade to a 4 - 12 x 44 to develop loads, but these bullets are consistent. Good luck hunting!

11/30/20 -- Berger 168gr 7mm Rem Mag blew apart on Cow Elk shoulder at 300 yards, only found little copper pieces. Also a lot of damage to meat. Elk went 40 yrds ., but I will be switching to the 160 gr. Nosler Partion.

Good video. Yup, I have circled the wagon myself...lol. I would like to mention a couple other bullets that get no glamor but I know they they work. The Remington Core-Lokt and the Speer Hot Cor. No hype , no insane BC, or attention, but the terminal performance is there at a budget. When I was a kid starting out in the hunting world I didn't have a big budget. I was that one gun guy not by choice but real life budget. I bought a M700 in 30/06 and a box of Core-Lokt. When I started playing the hand-load game I started with the Speer book and a box of Hot Cors. Many guns and many loads latter.... I have not found anything better for general all round hunting then where I started years ago.

I agree totally with the fact that there is a difference between Target Shooting and Hunting, especially the Bullet Design for the such. The Partition is still the best All-Around Hunting Bullet because it will do the same job at close ranges and long ranges when Hunting, while being very Accurate And, by Long Range I mean out to about 500 Yards, with the right Cartridge (300 for some of the smaller cartridges) Shooting beyond that is not Hunting and has too many variables for a clean kill shot! This is one of your best videos with direct let them know the truth. :)

I like your take on the Nosler Partition as I’ve been reloading with these for over 25 years. As well I see your view on the Barnes TTSX, which is my preferred mono bullet. I love them in my old Browning 7 RM.

Hey just wanted to say good job with your videos. I have been hand loading and hunting for over 40 years. I have used a variety of different bullets. And yes you are absolutely right that bullet construction is key for hunting. As well as calibre and shot placement. High BC bullets are great for paper and steel and prairie dogs. I am getting tired of these long range hunting shows showing first time hunters taking animals at 700 plus yards. What they are not showing is all the misses and wounded animals that they don’t recover. I went a couple of days ago and was hitting steel at 420 yards and 750 yards and believe it 1100 yards. With the 160 Nosler and the 160 Swift Aframe With my 7mm rem mag 30 moa rail Leica Amplus 6 custom turret. But there is no way I would take a shot at an animal over 550 . To have enough velocity and energy for proper bullet performance. Besides the Big Game Animals deserve a quick one shot kill. We all need to be ethical hunters. Cheers

The closest I can get to a moose with my ironsighted Rem700 the better. Its chambered for 30'06, but backed up by hand-tailored Nosler Partition ammo custom to my rifle. I depend on these to fill my freezer for the year. Alot of people don't realize handloaded Nosler Partitions are deadly accurate when custom developed, and loaded to a specific rifle 😁 great vid!

The Partition was developed by John Nosler specifically for Moose Hunting! This is my ONLY choice for Alaskan Big Game! I read his story and it's a good one. In my Semi-hunter gatherer lifestyle, I depend on John's creation to cleanly take AK Bull Moose! I've successfully taken Bull Moose a few years with a clean headshots using 180 Accubond bullets and did the job when Partitions were no where to be found.

I believe it's possible that in the future we will see a combination of the partition and monolithic using the technology of Hornadys mono-metal their soft copper! and noslers concept of the partition is a deadly combination that deserves consideration

Sorry hit the wrong key. The scope industry followed suit and now we are all 2000 yard deer slayers. Long range shooting is for steel plates paper targets varmits. I tell people chose a bullet that will do the job at the range that is practical for,the specie being hunted. My hunting is dense bush. I use 45/70 450 Marlin 444 with Barnes hollow point design. Works well. I have used Nosler Partitions and they work very well. Most bullets like you stated are more concerned with B.C. That means more copper longer ogives and body. Useless for a practical hunting bullet.

I just went through my ammo and found 6 boxes of Federal 375 300g NP! It’s always a surprise about what’s in the old ammo bins. I always find boxes of rounds for calibers I’ve never even owned! I guess it says something about how often I do inventory reviews, LOL!
