I don't feel like I should have to explain this, but just a friendly reminder to those requesting subjects for "Nostalgia Critic Real Thoughts On", Doug and Rob are only doing movies they've covered on Nostalgia Critic. If you're requesting things from Disneycember/Dreamworks-uary or just random movies, unless it's been done as a NC Episode, it probably won't happen.
@InfinitySor6259 жыл бұрын
Yup, people have done it. And Yes they've done Space Jam.

But if they did a bunch of random movies, regardless of whether or not they were NC episodes, that would kinda defeat the purpose of this series then wouldn't it. It is called NC Real Thoughts after all. Just saying...

It was Stan Winston, this was his first attempt at gorilla effects and since he worked with the producers on Jurassic Park. Ernie Hudson was the villain in the 1996 crime/thriller, The Substitute, where he starred opposite another actor I hold in the same regard as Ernie - Tom Berenger. One of those actors who's super cool, brilliant, inventive, has a great sense of timing, and has had some starring roles, but never broke as far above supporting actor as much as they probably should have.

Here's two novels I wanna see made into a film perhaps, or a good mini-series. Timeline by Crichton: Some in short, archaeology, architecture, and history college students end up being sent back to a medieval time of the site they are excavating, to put it short. (I did NOT read all of it though.) Cell by Stephen King: You think the craze about cell phones, mobile phones, and NOT face-face conversations is bad? How's about a 'zombie'-like apocalypse where you mainly become infected, just by using your phone? And the entire apocalypse just happens *snaps fingers* like that; out of the blue? ;) (I DID read this book entirely...on my iPod, and LOVE it).

Rob got the ending wrong here in the review. "In the book, it ended on a dark note; was left ambiguous. The movie was complete Hollywood schmaltz!" Here's the epilogue summary to the book: In an epilogue, it is revealed that Munro was able to retrieve a few hundred carats of the valuable diamonds and sold them to Intel for use in a revolutionary new computer processor, while Amy was reintroduced into the wild and was later observed teaching her offspring sign language. Both the book and movie end virtually the same way. *mic drop*

I never saw the movie, but I'm a Crichton fan, but thought that the book was one of his worst (though...that's not really saying much because I liked most of his books). I had no interest in seeing the movie because I didn't really enjoy the book. For those of you new to Crichton, read one of the Jurassic Parks or Sphere first. Those are easily his best three. Edit: Seriously? No likable characters? Dr. Grant (yes, the book one), Ian Malcolm, Merek (Timeline), Norman Johnson (Sphere)...I liked all of these characters.
@stapler9429 жыл бұрын
***** From what I recall having read most of his books as a tween (then finding I had outgrown his style when trying to re-read them as an adult), his least interesting (fictional) book was probably The Terminal Man. Maybe Rising Sun after that as it's hilariously dated. Sphere was the one I probably loved the most, then Jurassic Park and Timeline. Congo was a decent thriller. Eaters of the Dead and the Great Train Robbery were interesting takes on the historical genres., etc. The movie adaptations of his books (apart from Jurassic Park) are something of a mixed bag, most fall into the mediocre to cheesy and/or dated category. 13th Warrior was alright, Sphere starts out interesting then gets rapidly disappointing (and full of stuff that doesn't make sense), Disclosure is pretty dated but not really a badly made film (the virtual reality scene - LOL), Timeline was a letdown (though at least we got the line "Trebucheeeet!"), Andromeda Strain is classic sci-fi (though about as slow as 2001), Great Train Robbery is pretty good, Congo is funny-bad, Rising Sun is mostly forgettable (despite Sean Connery), The Terminal Man I've never seen but I'm sure is dull, The Lost World does away with most of its source material, and of course Airframe and Prey we'll never know 'cause they didn't get made.

I personally like Chrictons characters their often selfish but they don't feel to one dimensional. The best example I can give is Gennaro the lawyer in the book is an everyman who doesn't want to visit the Island but is told to by his law firm, is the very first person to voice concerns of young children visiting a park under a safety investigation and literally the second he sees the T. rex he's like "yeap this place is dangerous and I'm shutting it down". In the film his entire character is "I like money" Anyway great breakdown of such a goofy film
