2 things I like about Turtles 3: 1. They go to japan. I really don't care where they go, but it is SO refreshing seeing them outside of new york. Even as a kid I was so tired of the sewers and all that. Thats why the europe episodes in the cartoon show are my favorites. 2. Everyone (except Leo) has a bit of a drama. Especially Raph and Mike when they don't want to go back and have a very good point for not wanting to go back. Because in ancient japan they don't have to hide and live in a toilet. Don on the other hand has to build a time machine in a cepter with an old asian blacksmith, which I find hilarious.

I also liked how it _tried_ to be a little more serious than 2 was. The turtles actually use their wepons in 3. In Turtles 2, it pissed me off because they never used them and made lame excuses for them not to. I also like the moments with Raphael and Yoshi as he's kind of a young reflection of himself and the moment when he has to tell him it's alright because Yoshi was afraid he might die the next day. I just wished all of that was in a better movie.

I love that April’s appartement was actually built on top of her deceased dad’s pawnshop that she just sorta kept around because she has a lot of sentimental attachment to it. Because that’s something I could see a real person do.

Everyone seems to forget that _TMNT_ (2007) is actually "supposed" to be the fourth and final installment of the original film franchise. It doesn't tie into the 2003 show. Look it up. It technically happens after Turtles 3, timeline-wise. (Unfortunately, we never got the fifth film they hinted at in it......would have been better than the Bay reboot at the very least.)
@Justmyhandle

*The only three things I loved and continue to enjoy about 2007's TMNT even while acknowledging its several flaws:* *1. April O'Neil as a competent fighter-* Playing a more active role alongside the team, training in swordsmanship, her sweet new outfit paying homage to the yellow jumpsuit, beating up Foot soldiers and even holding her own against Karai. *2. Casey Jones' metal hockey-masked outfit-* Another heavy-duty treatment to an already classic look, slightly more skilled in his hockey stick twirling, I could seriously see this version of Casey giving even Jason a run for his money. *3. Mako's Splinter-* I actually found the late great Mako one of the best voices (better than the Bay version), he captured the wisdom and compassion of the character and his brief moments showing he's "still got it" in combat felt awesome.

Dallas Cowboys For Life Well, only the last two sequels were bad. But the first 1990 film was actually not that bad. May not age well to some people, but it's still considered to be a timeless classic to most people. But seriously...the 2014 "remake" was just god-awful, even if it was produced by Michael Bay.

SidiousRed I think I like the 1990 film because it was mostly based on the Mirage comics. While using a few things I do like about the 87 cartoon...which isn't much now that I've gotten over it. That being the turtles having different colored face bandanas.

Dallas Cowboys For Life Bullshit, the 1990 film actually attempted to develop the Turtle's characters and was faithful to the comics and the cartoon show, it was a solid combination of both interpretations.

Dallas Cowboys For Life hhahahahahahahah, yeah I'm pretty sure I have a good point. You can dislike it all you want, but don't make an opinion fact. The 1990 film isn't the best TMNT film but it certainly still has some depth to it, solid gritty and fun atmosphere, and it's a blast of a film to watch.

I honestly think Secret of the Ooze is my favorite of the movies simply because it's more...fun. The original had that whole segment where they have to retreat to this old house in the country, where April reflects on the Turtles and their personalities, which I certainly appreciate more as an adult, but found boring as a kid. I also didn't see the original as often too. We got TMNT 3, but I haven't seen it in years. Probably should, considering my parents got the trilogy on Blu-Ray for themselves. I liked the 2007 movie, Forever was cool, and I'm not bothering on 2014.

There's a reason for the hate towards the 80s series in the crossover During the time the 2003 show aired, fans of the 80s show kept asking the network to make the show more like the 80s cartoon (and by asking I mean whining and sending threats), till the network ultimately caved in, and pretty much forced the production crew of the 2003 series to make it like the 80s show, which ultimately lead to the show's ratings dropping, and the show getting cancelled. So when the crew was brought back, they used the opportunity to take their revenge on the fans who ruined their show.

It’s a shame that the first film cut out a deep subplot about Michelangelo going through a depression due to Splinter’s absence. There are still remnants in the film, like when he’s punching the bag and when he sheds a tear after Splinter talks to them through the fire. Also note that when Raph is yelling atop the barn, it’s supposed to be Mike, as he has his nunchucks. Also, the Turtle Wax bit was supposed to be a sigh of relief from Casey and April, as it has shown that Mikey has recovered.

I think the worst crime for TMNT 2007 is introducing another Dimension that's NOT Dimension X and giving us 4 bad guys that no-one cared about. I would have cared if the movie had Krang, or Baxter Stockman, or Rat King, or Leather Head or ANYONE from the show that we actually looked forward to seeing on the big screen then sure. The third movie had that problem too where the villain was Guy with a Bird.

The TMNT movie isn't based on the 2k3 series. It's a continuation of the 80's and 90's films. Check the trophy case at the end it has Shreder's helmet, the TCRI canister, and the Time scepter. However It did add Karai who existed in the comics but became popular in the 2k3 series so i guess that's a connection to it?

@SolarDragon007
@SolarDragon007 9 жыл бұрын
kevdawg55 They're certainly more mature than the current cartoon, but they never go overboard with the darkness. People actually get killed via stabbings, shootings, etc, but the violence is mostly on a PG-13 level with very little blood. There is a little bit of cussing, but it's relatively tame and never goes as far as F bombs being dropped. I will say though that this series features one of the darkest versions of the Ninja Turtle Origin. Without getting into spoilers, the backstory here is very intense and emotional. Overall though, I'd say these comics are okay for kids 11 or 12 and up.

The current TV series is definitely more respectful of the 80's show and its fans. While it takes inspiration from pretty much the entire franchise, the majority of it comes from the 80's show (ex: original theme song, Bebop & Rocksteady, the Technodrome, etc...). They even managed to bring back the turtles' original voice actors for a cameo in one episode.

The first TMNT actually ruined the original cartoon for me. I was awed by its awesomeness so much that the cartoon seemed lame by comparison, which is one reason why I love the 4Kids series so much. TMNT II and the Imagi movie are same quality for me. Both are good, if flawed, films that aren't as good as the original one. TMNT 3 had a lot of problems, but I did like the Turtles in their samurai armor.

As for the Raph vs Leo fight in TMNT 2007, you're right, there wasn't any animosity from the two in the TMNT 2003. Yes, they had differences of opinions (going after Stockman, accepting Oroku Saki's offer, dealing with the Foot, the Purple Dragons AND the Mafia all at once), but not to the point of fighting to the death. One more thing, the TMNT *are* aliens... sort of... Let me explain: the mutagen is of alien nature, created by the Ultroms (or Kraangs in the Nick series) when they crashlanded on Earth. So yeah, the TMNT are not aliens, but they're close to it :P

1st TMNT movie: Still the best Turtles movie ever created from start to end (including Turtle Power). Only wished Donatello did more inventing/repairing. 2nd TMNT movie: It's just a toned down version of both the 1st movie and Home Alone set-ups. Wait, didn't "3 Ninjas" do something like this? Outside of "Go! Ninja, Go!" and the few minutes of Super Shredder? 3rd TMNT movie: "Help! I'm a turtle! And I can't get up!!!!" 4th TMNT movie: Simply a CGI test in movie form. Story did not add up or belong at all. 5th TMNT "movie" (Turtles Forever): I loathed how mistreated the Classic Turtles were. They were able to hold their ground proven in their own series, and they made them teletubbies!? Plus, you don't have Splinter and Splinter meet? That would have given us so much emotions on 2K3 Splinter's side!! 6th TMNT "Bay version": They did some fixes the previous movies didn't. Such as the Turtles taking down Shredder via teamwork, that falling down shot compared to what the 3rd movie did, and as ridiculous Shredder-tron/Shred-former looked, I guess that's our Super Shredder. Other than that, I agree, it could have been worse.

***** "5th TMNT "movie" (Turtles Forever): I loathed how mistreated the Classic Turtles were. They were able to hold their ground proven in their own series, and they made them teletubbies!? Plus, you don't have Splinter and Splinter meet? That would have given us so much emotions on 2K3 Splinter's side!!" That would be because Peter Laird worked on the 2003 series and he hated the 1987 cartoon along with Kevin Eastman. Since it was nothing like the original comic series they made in 1984 which is understandable. And honestly outside of the first 5 episodes I can't remember the turtles having good combat skills. Hell they barely used their weapons most of the time as the series went on. In fact I remember watching the episode with Mondo Gecko not long ago because he was gonna be in the 2012 cartoon. And I wanted to get an idea of who he was which I did after seeing his 87 counterpart. Anyways in this episode Mikey got his ass handed to him several times by a couple of lowly thugs who worked with Mondo. Granted he didn't have his nunchakus since it was around the time when he was given a grappling hook. But I doubt it would have made much of a difference since the turtles hardly used their weapons in the series. Plus he's a ninja and should have good hand to hand combat skills so the not having a weapon isn't a good excuse. As far as Turtles Forever goes I really enjoyed it and thought the 87 characters were portrayed very accurately if not a little exaggerated. Especially the turtles even if Raph was the only one who sounded like his 87 version (which apparently pissed off Rob Paulsen). But yeah that's how I remember the 87 turtles being complete goofballs and having terrible combat skills. And the 87 cartoon is the version I know the best and the one I grew up with...Hell I was born a few weeks before the first episode aired. But I also don't care for the 87 cartoon anymore either so I'm more cynical towards it. But yeah that's how I remember the 87 cartoon being way too goofy and having nothing to do with it's source material. I should probably watch the 87 version again and see if my memories of it are close to the actual show.

LOL Party Up (Ordained Atheist Priest) Yeah, I read a few things here and there. There was 1 comment on CA's website regarding Turtles Forever created just to irritate the fans for misleading Fast Forward and Back to the Sewers as what they are (though I enjoyed them and I think they still put in effort to them regardless of background meddling). I enjoyed Turtles Forever too. Just wished they didn't heavily tone down the Classic Turtles. I guess they gave the "fans" what they wanted, as well as what they don't want. Well, that's what you get for demanding. The Classics in this movie were reduced to their TMNT 2, 3, maybe Next Mutation and the heavily advertised versions, thanks to them.

***** OK you're right the treatment towards the 87 characters was unfair and uncalled for. Yeah the show was goofy and stupid but the whole franchise is kind of like that really. But other than craving pizza a lot the turtles weren't that incompetent and they could be serious. While also cracking jokes from time to time. But I do know that they walk in broad daylight and use their weapons less as the show progressed. And really Mikey had no reason to get his ass handed to him by a couple of lowly thugs in the Mondo Gecko episode. I mean he was trained in hand to hand combat if I remember correctly. That might be due to the writers only being good at writing comedy though. But man it's been so long since I've watched this that I kind of forgot. I just assumed that Turtles Forever was just an exaggerated version of the 87 cartoon. But yes you are right about this... "I loathed how mistreated the Classic Turtles were. They were able to hold their ground proven in their own series"

***** I don't get why people hate the 2007 movie? The turtles looked the best they ever have in that movie. Plus that awesome scene when they storm Winter's building through hundreds of foot clan is awesome. Raph and Leo have their biggest fight ever, and the whole visual setup of the movie was top notch.It's random and sort of doesn't blend in with the tmnt history, but it still has enough positives going for it. It was actually refreshing to get a break from turtles vs shredder for a change.

I enjoyed 2007 TMNT too. Like you said, it's a random storyline that connects to nothing (if there's anything at all), but from what was delivered, I liked it. I suppose people expect better out of movies, than something like this, which I agree this could be better off as a TV movie. Heck, I do wish this and Turtles Forever were switched, though I read around somewhere that it was planned to be a theatrical release, but was declined.

Hmm....they mentioned Mako being in both Avatar and the 2007 TMNT film, but no mention that Mae Whitman played both Katara in Avatar and April O'Neal in the 2010s series. BOO!!! Mae Whitman's amazing. She's been acting since she was like 3, and has found consistent success her whole career, in a wide variety of projects and mediums. Pretty amazing. Never saw her in anything where I didn't think she did a great job.

I personally quite enjoyed TMNT, I've pretty much come to think of it as a bit of a cross between the 2003 series and the three movies that came before it. As for it leaving no lasting impression... it was originally planned to have a sequel, one with (at least most of) the same actors working in a combination of live action and cg... given the facts, it might have come out better than what got put out in 2014, but now we'll likely never know.

I remember me and my wife rented TMNT because we were both into Turtles growing up, and halfway through we just turned it off because we were bored. I was actually glad for the review because then I could just see what happened in the rest of the movie without having to sit through it (and, like Doug, had no idea who Mako was at the time).
