Another interesting thing about this movie is the voice of Zygon is Anthony De Longis, known as Blade from Masters of the Universe, and also one of the henchmen from Roadhouse, Gary (drove the monster truck). But he's actually more well known for being a proficient swordsman and taught Harrison Ford how to use the bullwhip for Indiana Jones. He's one of those guys important to movies that doesn't get enough credit.

What do you mean? This movie came out in 1985, while the return of the jedi was released in 1983. Everything this movie rips off existed for at least 2 years! Yeah you CAN argument, that the movie was made during the release of Star Wars, BUT that is invalid because the movie had a suprisingly shot production time of only one year (1984)! Return of the Jedi could've been released during the pre-production, but at least the first 2 Star Wars movies were allready out and well known. So yeah...this is a rip off!

2:46 Wouldn't whipping your slave with a fucking laser whip splice her in half?!? As it would this laser drill 5:23. And he 3:24 should be decapitated. Also: 4:28 This sword had a physical blade 2 seconds ago. Where did it go?!? 5:46 what do his horns phase through? 12:04 There are 14+ bad guys on the ground... do they wait for their turn to fire their guns or what?! With 14+ guys blasting away there should be a whole lot more laser beams soaring against the ship... 21:32 Looks like the GM granted him a free level of soulknife for the climax... that's power gaming... And I think I can help out with these: 12:15 "Kacka" or also "Kaka" is a German word. Little kids use it as an euphemism for shit, poop, turd, feces, stool, excrement, or crap. I get the feeling that this movie isn't iconic, but ironic. 15:24 For a split second Dagg's leg was lifted, so I assume he kicked the other guy in the balls. Like a real rogue. Not cool bro.
@hanliu37079 жыл бұрын
VisualGourmet 1 I think it's electric whip? 2 Yeahhhh... that sword thing... it just show how the story is badlly writen... 3 Yeahhhh... that horns thing... it just show how the movie is badlly drawn... 4 Errr... that's really it's own problem, many other movie henchman act like this too... also that kick... I think they just missed few frames of animation...
@VisualGourmet9 жыл бұрын
Han Liu The electrical whip theory is intriguing... let's think, discuss and theorize: Would it be possible for the whip to glow red when being live? Usually if there's any strong discharge, it appears blueish or rather white. Wouldn't a red glow mean that the (obviously) metallic whip holds that much electricity that it's overheating? And judging by the whip "chord's" diameter it needs a lot of electricity to do so. Beating a slave with such an overcharged whip would outright kill him by stopping his heart. Therefore I think the proper answer should be: _"Yeahhhh... that whip thing... it just show how the story is badlly writen..."_ And I'd criticize the idle henchmen in every movie :-) It's dumb and lazy screenwriting.
@hanliu37079 жыл бұрын
or maybe they just get the whip from Skeletor in He-man movie(NC did a rewevie of it)

From a writer's standpoint, the bladeless hilt "energy sword" is an interesting idea, unfortunately, with the lack of characterization and well-thought out plot points or plot in general, that's all it really is: an idea. If this move actually had a clear mythology and well... a reason why the sword did that, it'd be pretty cool. That being said: that sword's design and "way it works" minus the whole invisible part, is also ripping off "The black Caldron.

b sher i personally hate it. I hate this kind of art style and will never like it because of good old Cartoon network cartoons that were amazing with detail yet simple but clear art style. Simply but clear, that's my favorite that this is waaay to much like clay models draw on paper with human details

magnusm4 i dunno, i like the older cartoon style. i watch anime these days, and i prefer shit like akira, vampire hunter d, ninja scroll. i guess i'm just nostalgic for the older animation styles, and i think the art in this is pretty solid, i doesn't look cheap at all.

Actually install a flesh light in the Fembot and she'd be just about perfect.

Having seen the movie recently, I have to say it's not AS bad as Doug plays it out to be, but it's still not great. If you ask me, it uses lifted shots from Star Wars similar to how Turkish Star Wars does while MOSTLY doing it's own thing, unlike Brazilian Star Wars (Doesn't really count on the ground that it's a parody). I think one of the nails in the coffin for the movie was that it was marketed towards kids or families, the burn may have been less if it were probably PG-13. In addition to some long, drawn out panning shots of the ship flying by all these empty scenes for almost ten seconds. I still liked it either way, 6.5 out of 10. Not bad, but nothing really special either.

+Jonathan Curtis Yeah, I really liked the nod to the Zygon creature, quite an obscure Doctor Who reference especially since this review was made before the Zygons made their long-awaited returned in the 50th anniversary special.

Another thing appear in the Phantom Menace later as well as the door cutting is the baddie getting cut in half by the sword and then falling down a bottomless pit.

When he said "It has it's own Navi!" I was sitting on the couch watching this and said "No!" My Dad then looked at me and said "No what?" I responded "Navi the fairy" and he said: "Mother of God."
